Devils need a winger with a scoring touch in the top six and at the very least some center depth for lines 3/4.

If Haula continues to struggle out of the break, then the center option might need to be someone capable of giving you solid third line minutes.

Ideal acquisitions would be Bjorkstrand/Palmieri/Rakell + Gourde.

I’m not 100% sold that the Devils are going to go all-in on rentals or win now this year. I think they press hard for a short and long term solution like McCann or Rakell. If that falls through, I wouldn’t be surprised to see them settle for 2-3 cheaper forward depth options like Nyquist, Beauvillier, Suter, and Bjugstad rather than the big names. Build a team that’s 4 lines deep and hope you find a spark somewhere for chemistry.

I think Fitz gets some rentals with the idea they sign them. Frederic/Geekie helps. Donato and Evans are worth a a look. I dont think he swings for the fences (he never does in-season) with a Mercer for Mcann type trade. But he does not waste the season either. Secondary scoring is there issue right now (since xmas break). The 4th line has been terrible. Add a couple guys from above, push Palat down the lineup and I'd think about Tanev (rental for playoffs, for his speed and forecheck). Bastian, Tatar, Dowling, Lazar, McDermid are not seeing the scoresheet. Most everything else is acceptable.
