your team's top 10 prospects

For the Isles

Schaefer

Eiserman
Ritchie

Nelson
Finley
George
Gidlof

Bednarik
Pulkinnen
Odelius

The group is much, much improved in just the past year. Literally all our top 3 our new and they all project as at least solid top 6 guys (potentially elite for Schaefer and maybe Eiserman if he really hits). Nelson and Finley could be solid middle-6 guys, George looks like a solid 4-6 defenseman, and Gidlof has looked really good in Europe but we’ll have to wait a couple years for him.

Dobes? What?
Why not?

He didn't show enough to give you hope he's a legit prospect, likely as a backup goalie?

Had the same thought. Dobes looks like a very good goalie prospect. Yes, the Habs have a bunch but that doesn't take away from what those players are and in Dobes case, he's pretty good.

Kerins has to be in there, but this is a fantastic pool.

Kerins has to be in there, but this is a fantastic pool.

You could certainly make that case for him. His size, skating and pacing in some ways hints towards a high end AHL / overseas point producer.

He's a talented kid though, and made some huge strides last year. If that carries forward he may very well end up as a solid NHL contributor.

Kept thinking to myself guys like Basha, Suniev, and Battaglia should be higher, but they just have a solid group of names ahead of them. Might put Brzustewicz above Honzek, and slide Morin down to 8, but this is a really solid list.
Calgary and Washington have really solid pools for teams that havnt been drafting high, wild also pretty solid

Crazy to think they still have 4 firsts in the next 2 drafts, and just graduated Wolf and Coronato this year too. Calgary’s drafting took a big step forward under Treliving, and now Conroy’s philosophy of drafting flawed big time producers betting some of them will over come their flaws seems to be getting great results.

Topi Niemelä at your 3? I have lost faith on him after this season.

Thinking it quickly, has to be top3 worst pool in the league with Colorado and Florida

Even though I hate it for Chicago (Misa probably goes to SJ) taking Schaefer is the right call.

I actually think NYI could do a pretty quick retool if things fall the right way for them. Eiserman is a huge wildcard. He has a 40 goal type of shot.

Another top 5 pick next year and they could be cookin.

Buium

Yurov
Ohgren
Wallstedt
Jiricek

Spacek/Lambos

Probably forgetting someone

The Wild are so interesting. Legitimately a very good org in terms of developing good players. The “problem” is they’ve never been terrible enough to get a 1/2 overall pick.

If you add a Bedard/Celebrini/Hughes type of prospect to that roster it’s a cup contender for years IMO.

I'll do PHI - should have 3/4 new names on this list with bascially a top 5 pick and 7 picks in the top 50.

1. Jett Luchanko - 2C 60 point upside
2. Yegor Zavragin - Starting Goalie
3. Oliver Bonk - Top 4D
4. Alex Bump - Middle 6 forward
5. Denver Barkey - Middle 6 Forward
6. Emil Andrae - 4/5 dman
7. Nikita Grebenkin - 3rd liner
8. Carson Bjarnson - Tandem Goalie
9. Helge Grans - Bottom Pair Dman
10. Hunter McDonald- Botton Pair dman

My top 10 for the Habs

1. Demidov

2. Hage
3. Reinbacher (I cannot rank DR above Hage when he has been a part time hockey player since coming back from injury. A long playoffs run will do him good)

4. Xhekaj
5. Beck
6. Mailloux
7. Engstrom
8. Kapanen
9. Roy
10. Koivu

I excluded goalies because they are way too unpredictable. Fowler and Volokhin are ahead of the others it seems like.

Big drop-off between #1 and #2. Another big drop off between #3 and #4.

Biggest wildcard is Xhekaj. His progression has absolutely insane which bodes well for the future. He was a nobody and had to be drafted as an overager since nobody wanted him in his draft year. 2 years later, he is a 0.5 PPG in the AHL scoring 24 goals. And he is even nastier than his brother, finished the year at 175 PIM.

1747474690197.png

1. RD-Elias Salomonsson-probably the safest bet of any of our prospects to be a legit part of a nhl top 6f/4d
2. C-Brayden Yager-Will he score enough to be considered a 2c or is he just a 3c. Opinions vary. The skating and defensive ability is there.
3. LW-Nikita Chibrikov-This is where I probably vary from Jets fans consensus. Love the forechecking ability which should make him at least an NHL regular in the bottom 6. I see a 3rd line winger.
4. LW-Colby Barlow-Really had a rough start to his year production wise after the trade to Oshawa. Really turned it on in the playoffs. The issue for me is he ever going to get the foot speed to be passable at the NHL. I have my doubts
5. RW-Brad Lambert-Frustrating year. Way too much playing from the perimeter. I think there is more bust then there is boom unless he starts committing to the hard areas.
6. LW-Kieron Walton
7. LW-Kevin He
8. LD-Alfons Freij
9. LW-Dmitri Rashevsky
10. G-Domenic DiVincentiis

My updated Sharks ranking with Celebrini, Smith, Graf, and Mukhamadullin graduated:

A grade

1. Askarov
2. Dickinson

B grade

3. Musty
4. Chernyshov
5. Cagnoni
6. Bystedt

C grade

7. Halttunen
8. Lund
9. Ostapchuk
10. Sahlin Wallenius
Sharks pool is starting to look pretty nice(specially considering they graduated eklund, celebrini and smith recently) quality players at every position. Adding a top player this year + 2 more picks in top 35, plus another 4 in next years first 2 rounds and I imagine they’ll add to that a little too.

Just glancing at roster/pool…. I assume RHD is a position they prob need to address in the draft/ free agency

For me, unless the they're bluechip goalies are off in a voodoo territory of their own, and it doesnt take much reading between the lines from management statement to conclude that Niemela and Hirvonen arent really in the orgs plans.

To me that leaves

Cowan
Danford

Quillan
Chadwick
Haymes
Villeneuve

Mayes
Johansson
McCue

It's rightly a very low ranked pool, but I'm oddly comfortable with it- I see a decent chance of it over acheiving.

Group 1 is self explanatory.

Group 2 has guys whose play far exceeds their value/ranking,

Group 3 has guys that are a ways away from being even B prospects- but who made absutely massive strides post draft, and if they do the same again this season...
