Your team's best all 2000's roster

Elias-Hughes-Kovalchuk
Parise-Hischier-Bratt
Hall-Gomez-Mogilny
Meier-Arnott-Gionta

Niedermayer-Rafalski
Stevens-Hamilton
Greene-Zidlicky

Brodeur
Schneider

HMs: Zajac, Sykora (gave Gionta the nod because of his 48g peak season), Holik, Paul Martin, Langenbrunner, Madden. Luke Hughes will be there in 5-10 years.

I kept positions accurate. Hence, Zidlicky over Martin

Zach Werenski - Seth Jones

Honorable Mentions: Manny Malhotra, Geoff Sanderson, Matt Calvert, Jan Hejda, Rostislav Klesla, Ron Tugnutt

All except 3 of these players were on the team after 2010..That's how poor our first 12 years were.
That's just sad for a 25 year span. Hell, it's barely above average compared to current rosters around the league. Here's hoping only 5 of those players will make the 2050 roster (Nash, Panarin, Werenski, Jones, Bob)

McDonagh Fox
Staal Girardi
Miller Klein

Overall great goaltending and a solid wings and D-core (a lot of people wouldn't put Miller in there but I love his game).

Centres are weak compared to other teams listed
This team sucks lol. Crazy how far goaltending has carried them

Looking for Leaf fans for suggestions on anyone I missed on mine?

Key omissions:
-ROR, as he was a mercenary. Still within the confines of the game, but not necessarily the spirit thereof.

-B. McCabe. It was a toss up between him and Kubina. I was just such a fan of the latter

My bubble forward was Corson as he was past his prime by the time he was on the Leafs. He was such a warrior for us though, which is why he got the nod over some Kessel era wingers. Komorov with Kadri and Tucker would be fun to see though.
I'd probably take Jason Blake over Corson.

For right defense, we have:

Pronger
MacInnis
Pietrangelo
Parayko
Shattenkirk

I can only assume all the other roster spots are equally as deep. :sarcasm:

But no..

Schwartz-Thomas-Tarasenko
Buchnevich-Turgeon-Kyrou
Demitra-ROR-Tkachuk
Steen-Backes-Oshie
Perron, Schenn

Bouwmeester-Pronger
Jackman-MacInnis
Parayko-Pietrangelo
Shattenkirk

With the exception of the 2000's Red Wings team which is ridiculous, I think the 2010 blackhawks stomp the field.

@Eye of Ra made an all 2000's international team thread, so I'm copying his idea at a club level. If this has been done already, so be it - merge away.

The only rule I have is that it's using the players prime year with your team. For example, the Leafs acquired Brian Leetch at the trade dead line at the end of his career. That's the version that they get - not the Noris/Conn Smythe version.

Nylander - Sundin - Roberts
JVR - Matthews - Kessel
Mogilny - Tavares - Marner
Corson - Kadri - Tucker

Reilly - Yushkevich
Kaberle - Tanev
Phaneuf - Kubina

Joseph
Andersen

That D core will look pretty silly next to NSH :help:

I'd run the following lines

Roberts - Sundin - Nylander
JVR - Matthews - Kessel
Knies - Kadri - T. Domi
Corson - M.Domi - Tucker

I'd drop Reilly for Bryan McCabe..

B.McCabe - Kaberle
Phaneuf - Tanev
Yushkevish - Kubina

Penguins.

Feel like i am missing somebody obvious

Straka- Lemieux - Jagr
Guentzel - Crosby - Kovalev
Neal - Malkin - Kessel
Rakell- Lang - Rust

Gonchar - Letang
Oprik - Whitney
Dumoulin - Kasparaitis

Fleury
Murray
Iginla he was 35 but 11 in 13 and the year after he got 60 points in a full season for Boston.

Defensemen
Karlsson and Paul Martin.
Just some food for thought.

The selection of defensemen over the last 25 years is tough for the Leafs. You'd think they'd have a bit more going. I don't know if I'm wrong but I recall Robert Svehla being excellent the one year he was there? I feel like he was better than anyone they have currently for sure.

There are a bunch of 2/3/4 D men on our lists. Still haven't had a true #1 since...Salming I guess? That said, Rielly was a #2 IMO and deserves to be on the list.

I like the addition of Knies for sure.

2 too many Domi's though.

I don't know about excellent, but he wouldn't look out of place on that list.

You can never have enough Domi's on a team.

I kind of like players that plays better in the playoffs than in the regular season.
