Your Rebuild Opinion? Next Move Coming?

Dobson is not a 1way player. Anyone saying that doesn’t watch him play and is doing the usual “this D scores point so he must suck defensively”. Hes a strong 2way D, though he didn’t PK because NYI had better options already.

Danielson can still hit but it’s crazy to act like he has more value than ASP.
Danielson has more value to Red Wings in a situation where they are getting Dobson. Even if ASP is going to be a better player (which is debatable), he is not going to play center. Value is never absolute, at least that what i was told in my business administration courses. If you believe that ASP is going to be such a great player you just don't trade for Dobson, but get rather a LHD with a more of defensive profile (Gavrikov, Miller, etc.)

Calling Dobson a 70 point guy is like calling Cheechoo a 50 goal guy. Or me a plus golfer because I went under par 1 time.

Dobson is 0.69 points per game player for last 3 seasons.
76 games, 11 goals + 42 assists = 53 points on average.

As a comparison, Seider is 0.53 points per game player.
82 games, 7 goals + 37 assists = 44 points on average, for last 3 seasons.

That would be nice combo to have on RD.

Then Edvinsson on the left side.

ASP's value gets significantly capped if you have Seider and Dobson on the right side.

For what will come next right side D-man don't have experience playing their off-side in almost all cases. Remember how terribly the Seider - Hronek experiment was for this reason. It has failed around the league, if you're going to go get Dobson and extend him for big term ASP is really the primary big asset we should be offering the Islanders. If he has more value, that should lessen what is needed in the rest of the package.

agree. If Dobson is in play, ASP is the logical chip to play.

Hertl might be in play, not sure if we have the assets to swing for both Dobson and Hertl but that would be quite the summer if we could snag both without gutting the prospect pool.

13 + Wallinder/Buium/Tuomist for Hertl is something I do. Vegas wants to clear cap for Marner. That does it for them.

Hertl is really a very interesting player. One of the best net-front Centers, learned a lot from Pavelski.

And that kind of guy is a perfect fit to our team, where mostly the skill lies on wings (Raymond, Kane).

Hertl will be 32 with 5 years left in November. Unless it's a free cap dump for us so they can go gallivanting for Marner in a week.

If they actually want good assets they can go pound sand.

In big picture I don't understand this Marner/Vegas/Hertl scenario at all.

Vegas backbone is their Center core. Eichel-Karlsson-Hertl. And they have no one on the roster to grow on bigger role. Eichel is UFA in 1 year too.

Now there's those nonsense rumours, "oh they will get Marner, just trade Hertl and Karlsson away, so easy". Yeah, and have a team with 10 wingers?

I don't believe on this shit at all.

Think it's mostly agents just fooling us, with least possible rumours. Same with Dallas. They have absolutely no cap space after adding Rantanen, and Marner plays the same spot. Just ridiculous.

Give me some real rumours, with real possibilities.

Pietrangelo will go on LTIR, maybe for the season. According to Kypreos maybe for the rest of his career. So there is big fat chunk. If they move out Karlsson, then they are basically fine.

I agree with that.

vegas does my strat on nhl games.

Ship off guys who’ve been loyal to you for assets, sign the top free agents, use the assets to get guys at the deadline. Rinse and repeat. theyll never draft but they wont need to since everyone wants to go there
