Your Rebuild Opinion? Next Move Coming?

Ekblad was born in Windsor but didnt grow up right in the city. I have a feeling you havent really seen Windsor and are going off of what you've seen online, but the areas around Windsor are probably some of the nicest places for a rich person to live in Canada.

Belle River is loaded with money, which is where Ekblad actually grew up. Its on the lake, its a short drive from places like Lighthouse cove or Tecumseh. Also places that are absolutely loaded with money, water front access and privacy that he could build a home in. Lots of other NHLers live in the area. The weather is also nicer than the vast majority of Canada excluding BC. Cold also doesnt really bother Canadians after growing up in it their whole lives

He married a girl from his hometown that was a childhood friend. If theyre having kids, you dont see any way that he could want to move home where both sets of grandparents are there to support them while hes on road trips? He can be with his entire family every holiday for the rest of his career?

He'll have his cup or two, get a payday to move close to home, make it way easier on his wife, see his family all the time and join a team thats up and coming. Its not the same as joining the 2019 wings now. People on here always assume they know what athletes would want based on absolutely nothing, this is one of those times.
Yeah my uncle lives in Windsor - incredible home. He also has a home outside of Ottawa. Beautiful places without the superficial vibe of Florida

Pete keeps mentioning Demko and I looked around a little for connections. Apparently his wife’s family is from Michigan and owns some big real estate company. If Vancouver knows he isn’t going to resign there I wouldn’t mind trading Talbot and a 2nd or something for him.

Nah... Talbot and Wallinder maybe.

Money can buy flights at anytime. Money also buys nannies that can help out when mom is sick with the flu.
Not when youre a multimillion dollar athlete with commitments. "Sorry guys I cant play these couple games around Christmas this year, me and the wife are heading back to Belle River for family Christmas".

And yes everyone definitely prefers to have women they dont know come over and take care of their kids, help them out vs their own parents and in laws.

Yeah anyone who wants to shit on the area has definitely not been to the area. The lake front areas of South Western Ontario are unbelievably nice. The closer to Windsor you get, the nicer they get. The area is full of wineries for a reason

And it's not just big holidays. Birthday parties, anniversaries, weddings, etc. Does he have siblings? does his wife? are there nieces and nephews? You start wanting to be around for all of the assorted birthdays and get togethers but you can't if you always have to fly in for it.

If I'm Boston, I ask for two of (Raymond, Seider, Kasper, Edvinsson). Pasta is the last elite asset they have; they won't deal him unless it's for a king's ransom.
They can ask but no team would surrender those types of assets, and historically even elite players haven't returned that caliber of young NHL talent.

Pastrnak would not get more than Eichel+Rantanen combined.

That's historically true, but 1) the Bruins aren't in the same place as either Buffalo or Colorado with respect to dealing the player, and 2) Eichel and Rantanen were both dealt to the opposite conference, not within their division. I think Boston would need extra convincing to negotiate with Detroit, versus sending Pasta to the West Coast.

If he's traded, I'd be outright stunned if there's was an exchange between Boston and Detroit that was tolerable to both parties.

How about Talbot and a B level prospect instead?

Talbot + Wallinder + 4th for Demko + rights to Boeser

1st address the goalie situation, its been wild with Yzermans goalie fetish, sign Ekblad, bring up ASP, buy out or trade, Tank,Holl, Gus, Berggren. Bring up 2 more kids ( mazur, Lombardi?) Make an impact trade or forward signing

Imo if Boston deals Pastrnak they are hitting the rebuild button and are not truly concerned with competing within the division for a while. I would consider it extremely unlikely that they move him, but certainly if they do they're not getting multiple great, already established NHL players.

Be interesting to see the defense, I think ASP and Anton Johansson should make the team out of camp as is right now. Signing can throw a wrench into things, wouldn't hate if they could figure out a trade to bring in a partner for Seider. Not personally, but I dis like Holl a lot on the team. He's just bad, always, isn't a world where you can explain to me how Axel Sandin Pellikka isn't better than him right now.

(A) Ben Chairot – Moritz Seider
Simon Edvinsson – Axel Sandin-Pellikka
Albert Johansson
Anton Johansson
Eric Gustafsson

Anyways, this would give you knowledge on your own guys going forward and gives Yzerman/Red Wings a chance to cherry-pick the defensemen they want with Seider in future years.
