Your Rebuild Opinion? Next Move Coming?

Just bury holl in gr. It's only a million more on the cap vs buying him out, but once this year is over, we're done with him.

Yeah, but that still leaves the option of using him. I want that option removed. Todd even talked decently (for some reason) about Holl at the end of the season, so he will play him if he is up. I feel like Steve and Todd are watching a different Holl than the rest of us.

I think they purposely talk up guys who have obviously been awful. Yzerman said he expects a bounce back year from Tarasenko in that same presser, but there are rumors they are working aggressively to move him.

I expect a bounceback too. There was clear off-ice reasons for Tarasenko's bad season.

But that doesn't exclude a trade option away either. Some buyer could expect that bounceback too.

What comes to Holl, there was no excuses for his poor play. He just is what he is. He is the only guy I expect to be bought out.

He had the issue with is Dad dying. I also read yesterday that he hasn't been happy with his role and how Detroit is using him.... So maybe some of his issues were him being pouty? I think there's some teams that could take a third line PP guy and hope they can get 20 goals outta him still

He's got legit friends in Florida. I think he'll be a Panther next year just depends on what they want to give up and how much Wings are willing to eat cap wise. (50%/25%).

I mean I’m not sure how he could be mad at his role, he either played top 6 or on 3rd line all year. As well as PP2 time. If he wanted a larger role he should have played a lot better

I'm not disagreeing with that at all, its just what I've read. Play better and your role will be better

AFPAnalytics.com, a website that does a credible job of projecting NHL contracts, has pending UFA defenseman Aaron Ekblad coming in at seven years at $7.802 million. What DHN is hearing: depending upon which team signs him the AAV could end up at $8 million or $8.25 million. It just takes two competitive bidders to drive up the price. The Red Wings, Toronto and Edmonton have all been linked to bidding for Ekblad if the Florida Panthers can’t get him re-signed.

Close to turning 30? Check.
Has a zillion miles already on the tires? Check.
Will likely be cooked by year 4 of a 7-year deal? Check.

If the Wings do sign Ekblad to a mega deal, I will have officially lost all faith in this front office for pro scouting and any decisions in free agency.

Being able to only spend cash to acquire a player does not mean you continue to spend it on guys that won't be useful for half their stay here (or guys that already stink when they walk in the door).

And specifically on defense: Ghost, Chiarot, Holl, Gus, the potential Trouba deal, and now a potential Ekblad signing. That's 6 for 6 on players I would never have pursued in the first place.

i dont want ekblad neither and havent all along , i just posted the report

I'd take Ekblad in a heartbeat, legit 1st pair d-man in his prime. Winning culture, leadership and hopefully would inject Florida wolfpack mentality in to our team.

But looks like Zito has the tools re-sign him, almost the entire core already locked up.
