In what world is the General Manager of a hockey team accountable to any of us?
Are you serious lol? No fans = no team. Especially when tax payers helped build the arena. I’m not saying fans should dictate every move but they certainly should be treated with respect and their expectations should be addressed. That’s partly the whole reason lalonde got fired was the booing the team got against St. Louis.

Dead serious. Fans have a bit too high of a sense of self-importance relative to the whims of sports teams and the billionaires that own them. Sorry to break it to you.

Well, in that case I definitely understand your position. I however kind of expect it from a GM.

I might be mistaken, but I thought every GM has one?

That's a good question. I honestly don't know. I've been watching hockey a very long time and don't remember them as a regular thing, but it could be that pre-social media they were reduced to a blurb on the local news or a couple lines in the paper.

To me there's just not much to glean from them. It's just more for us fans to overanalyze and dissect until the season starts again.

I'm also not in Michigan so that may also be a factor. If I ever want information about the Wings I have to actively look for it.

In an attempt to start ... some sort of discussion - I'm wondering if the Rangers are a target to try and add young talent - thinking of Miller and Cuylle specifically, who are RFA's due big raises - with the Rangers right now with only 9M and change in cap space and likely wanting to make big moves in FA.

Not sure if offer sheet(s) are realistic, but I would think it will be tough for them to keep both and presumably try to add a big piece or two.

Sorry to break it to you, but if zero fans both watched and paid to see them, most of them would be regular schlubs like the rest of us. No fans, no GM job to be had.

Rangers aren't letting Cuylle go. A big player who plays big (over 300 hits) and put up good pts. Not sure about Miller, but I think he is in the overrated category.

Definitely see the argument against Miller, but I think you can also argue that NY was fundamentally broken on D this year and made everyone on D look bad.

However, that's not the issue at hand here. Fans on a message board screaming for a press conference in no way impacts ticket sales or the team's revenue.

I think lack of Yzerman’s PC in a year where his own performance was subbar negatively characterizes him. It is not like he is eaten alive, Detroit media is very team friendly, but if he is not able to deal with even small amount of pressure, he should resign.

He said he can't give timelines which is different from expectations.

He's preached patience, which sets an expectation of focusing on the long term.

He's fired a coach over poor results which sets the expectation that the team needs to improve. He straight up said, they didn't live up to his expectations during his Press conference after firing Lalonde.

Again, he's set expectations, you just don't like them.
Ya I guess that makes sense, I guess just for me having the expectation being competing for a wild card after missing the playoffs for 8 straight years doesn’t cut it for me and shouldn’t cut it for anyone, it’s embarrassing and unacceptable

Shocked at some of these responses lol. Yes yzerman should have had a presser already to address what was a disappointing season considering the goals we had. Somehow this is a controversial thing to ask for? The rabid defenders of yzerman are way more unreasonable than anyone who slightly criticizes him.

It's not like we will not get a presser. It shows the duality of the fanbase though. 1 half is willing to wait for it and the other half is screaming "ITS MY MONEY AND I NEED IT NOW"

I am looking forward to the press conference, but Yzerman always holds his cards close to the chest, so it is not like we will get many answers. He will probably address the disappointment of this season, but everybody knows it was a season that ended in disappontment, so not much to learn there.
