Your Opinion - Fix the Rangers

Honestly, its a short season. I would let this roll out and then make longer term decisions then a la coaching, Richards, etc.

48 games, 16 of which have been played. Ridiculously small sample size to start with the re-hauls around here. Im not implying that a massive turnaround is about to happen but let **** play out a bit more first.

Elaborate.

Otherwise, not much I disagree with. Although expecting Scuderi to hit UFA isnt a guarantee.

If you think the, at best, above average goaltending we've gotten this year is anywhere near Lundqvist caliber you're fooling yourself. He can be much, much better.

you are right but i think demoting and benching can have the opposite effect he is still there then i think that putting him on the stands would be more effective.. Just my personal thoughts, might not do anything good but im ready to try anything

I think he needs to simplify his game.

If you think its been all Lundqvist, and not the way the team has left him out to dry in front of him, youre fooling yourself.

This team has been downright abysmal in front of him this year. Still absymal recently at times, and his play has certainly gone up in the same span. Hes making more and more of the saves lately that we are so accustomed to seeing, which is a great sign.

No slap upside the head needed for him whatsoever.

I thought Lundqvist was outstanding last game. Hell, I think he has been stringing together great games. The team in front of him sure likes to really exaggerate that.

The Rangers should be embarrassed to show their faces in Manhattan if they can't make the playoffs in this conference. They obviously need Ranger Rick to return from whatever ailment he has. Richards needs to start playing. Maybe the flu he had in January bothered more than we thought. All of them need to play better except Hagelin. I had a dream this morning Kreider scored a big goal. Sam Rosen was yelling What a goal by Chris Kreider. Then my alarm went off.

I didn't know you slept my man. I always picture you to be an AI programmed with endless Rangers information ;)

If someone is really saying Lundqvist has been bad this season, I would seriously question their knowledge about hockey.

Lundqvist hasn't been bad by any stretch but we've been seeing him give up goals with leads late in the third. That's when he was at his best last year. This year finishing a game has been an adventure. He has to make the saves up a goal late. Gave up a really juicy rebound on the Zibanejad goal.

Put McDonagh on the first PP unit, and keep it simple. Improved PP could be the difference to keeping us in the playoffs. Other than that, I don't know, time? Looks like the shortened season has had the exact opposite effect on the NYR than most were expecting...

I felt 13-14 would be our year, even before the season started. On the bright side, a win tomorrow would not only put us 4 points behind the NJD (if they lose), but would also be a massive confidence boost for the team.

Not expecting either .

He also covered our ass for most of the game too. He had at least 7 or 8 great saves that kept us in the game. The first goal wasnt his fault either.

To build on my last post, especially regarding the power play; we need someone to be selfish. To me, the defining identity of the "dark years" was the amount of passing and reluctance to step on anyone else's toes. Maybe too much talent makes everyone deferential. Teams need the "alpha". Selfishness (maybe not the perfect word) is why Bure was so successful here even when others around him (and they were exceptionally talented too) struggled to score.

I'd rather see us have predictable triggermen than predictable turnovers trying to make the perfect pass. You have the puck, you have a good look, take it. Don't perpetually look for perfect.

I read this site like 50 times a day and honestly so many people need to relax and think before they post. The rangers are not really in that bad of a position. I understand the rangers haven't looked that good in these games but they are getting points along the way while they try to put it all together. Richards is what he is, he should be playing much smarter with the puck and I understand that he gets paid alot of money to not have these spells

Gabby has looked like gabby. He is usually invisible if he isn't scoring but he is a consistent 40 goal scorer that will get his goals. This whole boards would be signing a different tune if gabby scored on his rebound in overtime. But that’s how hockey games go... lundqvist got scored on by two garbage SO goals ... but like I said we got a point

Honestly the whole team looks out of sink from the top stars to the rookies competing for a spot, I never join the torts bandwagon or fire him club but I read what people have to say. This is the first time im saying it but torts. Is def. the reason this team is playing the way they are. And it isn't so much his system with the grind it out games style but just his whole grip on this hockey team. the rookies don't look comfortable and confident and to be honest either do the stars. And that is because of who the rangers have behind the bench. They look to nervous to make a mistake with the puck.

Krieder looked amazing in the playoffs when torts use to "I let him play his game and do what he wants, I only tinker a little with the videos after the game " that’s what torts said last year in the playoffs and krieder looked unbelievable , people had him penciled for 40 goals which i knew was crazy but he looked that good ... now he looks out of sync and hesitant... and that from torts ... he’s scared he’s going to be benched .

Also a major thing with this ranger team is the defense. They are a great group of guys but they are too much of the same. no one fights no one really hits no one has a shot no one really stands out.... they are too vanilla and that is a major hole in this organization. They should trade for either a hard hitting defense man or a PMD/Hard shot defense man to play the point on the power play and blast shots 5v5

Honestly, for this season not much can be done..a lot depends on if Richards can pick up some momentum and how long Nash and Del Zotto will be out for. Maybe try and get a Babchuk or Antropov if the team is in it which I believe they will be.

I give McLIrath a cup of coffee though.

For next year bring in some jam like a Clowe or Iginla (do NOT overpay) and on D a guy like Murray or Scuderi to have a solid 5-6. If Sauer is somehow ready, that's a good problem.

I fully expect Fasth/Lindberg and also Thomas/Jean to be battling for spots with Fasth most likely to make it.

I also try and resign Feds for the fourth line or someone of that caliber.

The big decision is on Richards of course. If they feel he's finished they buy him out and take a crack at Getzlaf. If not, they wait and see and reassess it in 2014.

Torts needs to be like Coughlin and start to ease-up and trust his players more. This team has offensively gifted players; let them play the game they feel comfortable playing. Have other players play the grind it out, along the boards play.

I refuse to believe this team doesn't have a player with a booming shot. Impossible. I know Kreider can rip one, and Staal too. Why are they taking weak wristers? I've lost count on how many times Staal takes one of those, hits the defender in the skates, and before you know it, they're up ice leading the charge.

And I'm sick and tired of them trying to inch their way closer when they get a pass and then have them take a shot that allows the defender or the goalie to get back in place. You get the puck or see it loose? Just fire away, please!

Just like other teams start to get chippy when things don't go their way, Rangers should be doing the same. There's a reason why the Penguins run over the Rangers: we want to play it clean, we hope the refs catch what those ******** do, and we only get burned for it. **** the refs, **** the Penguins; they start doing their little ******** antics, you respond and reply, 10-fold.

Same thing with the Canadiens. 0, I repeat, 0 reasons for the Canadiens being able to dictate the flow of the game. You're able to push around Ovechkin all over the place, surely you can do the same for Gionta, Subban, etc.

i'd just be patient. i wish torts would not jerk around everything so much. they could just roll lines and let guys work it out. but torts creates so much...panic. i don't think it's warranted. but i guess that's the nature of the business. but i think that there's not a ton a coach can do to change things. the players have to work through it. this team overachieved last year and has come back to earth. it's still a good roster and maybe next year is their year. richards seems to be a bit of a worry though.
