Your nightmare playoff outcome scenario

Yes, I do take insulting my city and the people in it personally. Wouldn't you react the same if someone attacked something you're proud of in a personal manner? The fact that nobody said that people were going too far - including mods, where if I said the same thing about Edmonton (not that I ever would; Edmonton is a beautiful city that I'd love to visit) on my board or on the main boards, I'd get infracted quicker than chain lightning - just soured me on the Edmonton Oilers as a whole.

So, yeah, screw the Oilers, go Kings, knock out Edmonton in four!
Winnipeg says hold my CASE of beer

majority of fans would rank Carolina's entertainment value as dead last and if you wanted to introduce a friend to the sport a Carolina game is the last one you'd turn on
10 years ago, the Canes were in the middle of a 6 year playoff drought that would last another agonizing 3 years. Attendance was in the toilet. We had a braindead coach. The Captain, Eric Staal in his prime, had checked out mentally. People on HF boards were obsessing over aircraft tail numbers salivating over a sale of the team to Quebec.

And here we are now- every single night is a sellout. There is a waiting list for season tickets. 7 straight years of winning at least one round and 3 ECF appearances. Everywhere you go in this city, a heavy hitting technology hub that has absolutely exploded in population, people are wearing Canes apparel.

So this is exactly the team you introduce your friend to. You put them on and say "look at the relentless, mechanical precision with which the team plays for their maniacal coach, retaining possession of the puck constantly and peppering the other goalie with shots. Look at how they win every board battle and this Slavin character smothers every opponents star forward"

And then explain to him the Lore. THE LORE

canes and their fans being painfully corny is undefeated.

Of the 16 teams that made the playoffs only the Canadiens have fewer high danger goals than Carolina. They're the hockey equivalent of the Zerg, another thing everybody thought was boring.

I don't get the hate for a runback. Panthers/Oilers rematch would be funny just to see which Oilers player gets the pity Conn Smythe this time after putting up 500 points on the Kings.
Lol, McDavid had 11 points in the finals, leading the series in scoring by far. He had 12 vs the Kings.

Nice try with that narrative though.

lmaoo that's what happens when Florida only wins because the other goalie is bad and not because any of their players are elite

Leafs - Oilers

Neither of these teams deserve a Cup after purposely tanking, even if it was from 10 years ago. The players themselves are free to find success elsewhere.

Carolina - Stars is the matchup that makes me relax

You have quite the revisionist memory of history if you think the Leafs "tanked" on purpose.

What I've noticed is that fanboys of elite players think it's "boring hockey" when the subjects of their obsession get shut down, or scoring comes from depth, etc. Their brains are wired for simpleton, NBA-on-Ice style hockey. Their understanding of the game is fairly superficial, their focus narrowed down one piece...their hero... of many moving parts.

The good new is, most people grow out of this stage,
