Dude was terrible yesterday. He couldn’t skate with us so he resorted to his shit tactics.

Almost as if the Rags f***ing stink 5v5!

Side note:

Their whining on their board about our f***ing *jerseys* was excellent.

I like the new one that that Devils were “gassed” by the third period and they’ll never last a full series.

They were so gassed that they shut them down in those last ten minutes of regulation.

It’s hilarious reading the narrative on the Rags board about how we can’t handle their physicality, as if they low-key aren’t soft as baby shit
Honestly hilarious. Can't handle their physicality... the hits were 19/19. The Devils won the season series 3-0-1... (1-1-2 for them)... and they are over there talking about how we simply cannot beat them in the playoffs.

I was really hoping Nico would bury that 2-on-1 that he created in the 2nd by chipping the puck past Trouba and forcing him to take as clear of an interference penalty as possible.

It would have been perfection.

So much lovely play from the entire forward corps despite only scoring two.

I was so happy with Tatar's play last night. That was just veteran shit.

And Mercer always plays like he main-lined whatever the active ingredient in the smelling salts is for these rivalry games. He'll wear an A someday.

The only goal against last night was a mistake and a failed clearance, but hardly the worst thing we've seen this season, not even the last two weeks.

I love how they didn't change a thing after that GA. That held as the final score. Huge stones on everyone on this team.
Yup. Literally the only mistake. Yegor should have flipped the puck up the boards. Then Graves (bad luck honestly) threw the puck into Yegor's ass.

A mistake and bad luck led to their only goal.

Reminds me of the Tom Wilson game from a couple years ago.

Conspicuously absent from the list of players with major penalties was one of their bigger defensemen.

Big W. I like many commenters cannot believe the confidence the Rangers fans still have after going 3-0-1, granted all games were pretty close. "Not worried", "wait until the playoffs" etc good on you for being optimistic vs a team who is a matchup nightmare for you.

Dominating 1P, kind of even the rest of the way outside of a few zone cycles. Shesterkin was on his A game and they still won, "pucks on net pucks on net pucks on net". Felt they could have had a few more opportunities but he was in their head and they opted to pass. I think it will be a close series should they meet in the playoffs but fully expect the Devils to come out on top.

My hate for Fox is growing. He's a good player and I can't take that away from him. But he did a few little chickenshit things in this game and just slid out of the scrum untouched, I hope someone runs him honestly. He is so incredibly soft. Again lots of praise for Miller throughout too. He's a good skater with incredible reach but I honestly don't see the hype. Most of those "great defensive plays" were him making up for his own mistake or chasing someone down. Outside of the first line I'm pretty confident the Devils have the better matchups.

I don't see the dominating physicality that they supposedly have to shut the Devils down. Devils struggle vs WSH, BOS, NYI, teams that play a legitimately heavy game. Rangers aren't that. They have Trouba, a couple guys will throw the body selectively but I don't think it's enough to equalize the Devils speed.

I get it, and I’m fine it happened cause they’ll learn (especially Rango), but in that scenario (leading 2-0 in the 2nd), you clear the puck everytime. They had 2 opportunities.

Now, if you’re down 2-3 goals? I think you can try that, for sure.

————————————————————-

Have to say, I liked Bratt’s game last night. I actually saw him involved physically a few times.
I'm not going to pile on Rango here 'cause Marino could've also sent the puck down the ice and he had the puck with no Rags player close to him to poke-check it away.

Just saying.

Dude was terrible yesterday. He couldn’t skate with us so he resorted to his shit tactics.

To be fair Trouba did make a real nice play in the 2nd where he baited Palat by doing his signature 'barrel at a guy' and then used Palat's reaction to take the puck off him and get a good shift going. His pairing was actually the only one doing anything - if Lindgren isn't back, the Rangers are going to have a real hard time with the Devils forecheck.

One thing I will say about Meier is he is not afraid to just hammer the puck off the boards/glass to get it out of the defensive zone. I feel like a lot of our guys don't do that nearly as much and I wish they would. A number of times yesterday, I felt like they were trying to reverse the ice and go behind the net way too many times. It didn't end up burning them, but its not a habit I particularly like.

It's probably a biased take but my personal friends that are Rangers fans and from what it seems like here as well are the most subjective fans in the sport.
B-b-but the kid line!!
Lolll. I just hate the Kid Line, 3 mids who are thrust into the spotlight bc they play in NY. Typical Rangers media and fans elevating them to a place they don't belong. They're ok, not saying they're garbage but not near the hype they get. They cycle the puck occasionally but the lack of points is a real thing. They have no real finishers outside of Heetle sometimes.

I mean this with the utmost sensitivity to all New York National League baseball fans who also happen to love the Devils:

The New York Rangers: Yankees fan mentality, Mets fan reality.

(Yes, I am very thrilled at yesterday, specifially AJ99's first pitch taken as Yankees captain being a dinger to the Monuments the same day as that wonderful Devils/Rags game. overall.)
