How does Dougie not have possession if he’s making a play on the puck and attempting to shoot it out? So you’re telling me the equivalent, taking a one-timer isn’t possession?

As for Hughes, it clearly wasn’t possession but precedence says that a play is usually called dead for much less than that.

Hamilton shot the puck out. It was a controlled and intentional touch. He doesn’t have to hold onto the puck for a certain amount of time or anything.
Bingo. This isn't even debatable, especially if the penalty was on Hamilton (then can't argue it was called after Hamilton touched).
