This is probably the loudest I've ever heard the push back on him this year.
Alex said flat out to waive him during the game lol

I think that's too high for us? Is that just a 5 on 5?Natural stat trick has it at
90.03 nj to 90.34 Carolina
Oops forgot to hit the submit button after the all situations selectionI think that's too high for us? Is that just a 5 on 5?
We don't have a goalie here with above a .900%, but at least the two kids (who don't get the rope Vitek has gotten, at least Schmid didn't, they were letting Daws play for a while last month over Vitek though) are in the .890s and neither has played even half the games Vitek has.
My advice is too drink heavily to the point you forget your watching the New Jersey Devils.A handful of things can be true:
1. Fitz bears responsibility for not acting sooner on Ruff / Goalie.
2. Fitz got us here and deserve a lot of rope given the young core.
3. 23-24 is probably a lost season and trying to double down on an outside playoff chance is a mismanagement of assets.
4. I’ll be in Raleigh cheering on this team Saturday.
The depth is fine. The teams injuries were a problem, the biggest issue has been goaltending. Punting the season when they’re right there for a playoff spot when it could be salvaged by making needed moves is not easy to swallow. And yes Tom is a f***ing moron especially if it sees it how you write it up.Punting on the season is a lot easier to swallow when there are also so many things outside of our control going wrong. Injuries, both number of games lost and quality of player lost. The rookie defensemen were going to have to take their medicine eventually. The other thing.
But that does not excuse the things we can control going wrong. Fitz isn’t an idiot, he sees the same things we see. Ruff will not be back, they built an out into his first deal because they didn’t trust him, and they built an out into his second deal because they STILL didn’t trust him after the best season in franchise history. We will get another goalie, that’s not even a discussion. Our top-end talent is good but our depth really got exposed this year, especially on the backend.
The long term outlook is still great, even if the short term really sucks.
Yep, seven points out and haven't been consistent enough all year to maintain anything close to the streak they'll need to save them nowIt'll be too late by the deadline.
It may be too late now.
"Timely offense" in this case is just a deflective way of describing that this team gives up too many goals too easily and quickly. The Flames tied the game two f***ing minutes after the Devils went up 1-0. You wanted them to get the 2-0 lead within that time span? Does that sound reasonable?
Could you say that again and would Devils fans please listen. Thanks
I'm not trying to single you out - I am singling out posts critical of the offense and it just so happens you are one of a very few posters doing it.Well it could have been 2-1 or 3-1 even.
We are not getting the goals when we need them to preserve momentum. Just look at the gift PP we got with whatever time left to tie it and did nothing with it. Same with the other chances throughout the game when we had chance to either tie or build a swing lead.
Anyway. I am not at all saying goaltending or defense is less of a problem. Those ARE the key problems. I agree with Jim though that we aren't burying high quality chances as we should in those key moments.
Of course if Vitek wasn't the worse goalie in the league in this game we would easily win this. He sunk the game. But we could have still won this one with a bit better usage of momentum building moments to build a lead of larger size.
Lastly please ease up on your tone on my post quotes. I don't come and jump all over your posts constantly, you are singling/lashing at me out here recently and I got no beef with you. And I don't believe my position is that unreasonable here.
One disappointing season doesn't make Tom Fitzgerald a bad GM. Lindy Ruff isn't even a bad coach. Just IMO not the right coach to take this team forward and the same with Vitek as our starter. He's been basically shot for almost a calander year. Chico was defending Vitek tonight. Then I got home and had the game on T.V. The turd of the 2nd Calgary goal happens. Wonder what Chico had to day about that one. I love you chico! The depth is fine. The teams injuries were a problem, the biggest issue has been goaltending. And also the rookie dman aren’t the problem. It’s been the vets, another area Tom should have addressed a month ago.
This is a massive failure of a year thanks to him.
He’s a bad gm.
Agree with this. One of the things that i admired about when Yzerman was GM of Tampa is that he spent 3 draft picks to acquire Anders Lindback as his new starting goalie. And during that first season with Lindback in goalie, he realized quite quickly that Lindback wasn't very good and then traded for Ben Bishop who was Ottawa's 3rd goalie at the time. Bishop provided stability to the position and eventually became a quality starter.I agree with everything BUT 3. This team has been hanging around a playoff spot for some time now with the goaltending being the #1 problem.
Fitz is watching the same BS that we are. It's his job to fix it.
Didn't Vegas go through 78 goalies last year? Do something!!
I thought they started well enough today which was unfortunately taken away by vitekYeah the only thing you can really get on the offense for (besides the now-rancid PP) is where is OUR quick starts to games? We never f***ing have any.
We really need a 'Timeout...what is that?' type of memeAnd why didn't ruff take an effing timeout when the PP1 unit was on the ice for about 1 minutes 30 of PP time. In key end game PP opportunity.
Nope. We roll fast and then give PP2 20 seconds to do little. I have no problem doubling up PP1, but then take the fkin time out to rest them for the extended play.

I wish Fitz was a bit more proactive like Yzerman is.
