lol Torts gonna Tort. Why even play him?

WTF? Lol

He’s one of their top scorers. Got to play Foerster, with one goal, 20:43 instead I guess. (I’m not anti-Foerster but Torts gets weird sometimes.)

Remember:
This guy got thrown out after playing 3:52.

And this cementhead only played 8:03
40D619AE-D22A-4256-9C3A-A63800A0025B.jpeg

That’s three forwards with a grand total of
12:51 of ice time so other forwards made up for them.

I guess he likes Morgan Frost now because he got to play 18:29 even though he took two penalties.

(FYI, the Flyers had 38:29 5v5, with 10:45 on the PK and 9:49 on the PP.)

We take care of our own business, we will make the playoffs.

Yeah I really have no interest in looking at the standings. They should be making the playoffs with no struggles (obviously the injuries are a factor). If they're having to scratch and claw at the end of the year it'll probably be because they haven't been good enough and aren't good enough to be contenders. At that point I'd probably be too pissed off with them to be happy if they just eek into a playoff spot

Work your magic, glen. I think he got a bit demoralized after the bad team stretch. Probably took too much pressure on himself to fill in for Jack and Nico.... And didn't do so well and he probably mad about it.
Two problems with my so-called magic, Whaddagoal :

1.) I no longer have a Twitter(X) account (got sick and tired of the trolls and just shut it down before I lost too many brain-cells).

and

2.) Even if my account was still active, Bratt never uses Social Media aside from Instagram and I don't think I can get through to him in that format (which is a mess). (he DOES have a Twitter account but that hasn't been used since he came into the League)

Nope. Jesper's gotta figure this out on his own without my Kinkaid-Magic. :sarcasm:

Watching the goal back I'm guessing Torts was already on his ass for not moving his feet. He glides into the loose puck in the OZ and McLeod beats him to it to start the rush up ice. If he's skating then he gets to the puck first. Still wouldn't be benching one of my best players over that though lol

No room on your fourth line for power forward Smith?
Honestly he was at his best I’ve ever seen him during the past couple games where he was the 4th line left wing. That’s why I wanted a defenseman up. Though our D played a solid game tonight with him on a left side pair tonight and probably we needed his experience there. Tonight was perhaps as controlled a game as we’ve played this year on D. Too bad we had that melt down with 5 minutes left that Smith alas contributed to. Dumb penalty by Jack too.

I mean Dougie's been Dougie. The other guys do need to be better but even if they were better Luke would still be better than them. Like even if we got peak Marino and peak Siegs, Luke is still already just better.

That's fair, I just dont want that kid thinking he has to overexert himself as a 1D. He looks tremendous, can't believe they were people here who thought he needed to be sheltered....

Spot on as per usual, the one thing I'll say maybe it's good for this group to claw a bit for the playoffs? It's nice to be a lock by New Year's but maybe it's something for this group realizing not everything will be handed to them. We also gotta keep in mind we didn't even get that many good offensive playoff years from our top guys last year besides Jack. If we get in, I think Toffoli is gonna be MASSIVE.

4 goals on 13 shots tonight against worthless, washed up John Gibson. Against the even more washed up Capitals.

Are we still wanting to trade for him? Let him rot on Anaheim. He’ll be using a walker to get on the ice before long.

By the way, so much for his hot start. Put that to bed after this game.

#MarketCorrections

Yes, I purposely posted this in the GDT. I saw some discussion of him a couple days ago. Apparently the Vitek fever causes a lot of horrible side effects. One of those is you may get nutty enough to consider John Gibson as a viable option for the Devils.

I’ll stick with Schmid at league minimum over that albatross. I wouldn’t even trade Vitek for him AND with them retaining half his salary.

I thought I was lost and didn't see the OoT when I just saw this.

Yeah, I don't think anyone is touching Gibson unless it's someone super super desperate.

You just can’t take on the contract. Hamstrings you for years even at 50%. I’m all for riding Schmid for a bit and finding whatever goalie is having a hot year without a lot of term.

This would be the play but the question is has there have been a contender who got a goalie at the deadline who became a starter for them come playoffs?

If we ever get fully healthy, we are going to have some hard decisions to make at forward. We have like 10 or 11 guys that can credibly play in the top 9: Hughes, Toffoli, Bratt, Hischier, Mercer, Palat, Holtz, Haula, Meier, and now arguably McLeod.
Oh you beautiful dreamers you.

Honestly I don’t think we are as good this year as we were this time last year, certainly not given the injuries, despite upgrades in some personnel. The transition at defense is a big reason even given the injuries, plus Vanicek’s regression in goal. That’s why I will be happy if we claw our way into the playoffs. We are a bubble team now and with the parity around I expect the playoff race to come down to the last week of the season.

In that context I’ll be happy if we can just get in. And then who knows, anything can happen. This season looks like it’s going to be a dogfight until the end.

I agree with most of this, but I don't think we're a bubble team. I think when healthy this team is a top team. With that said, we're very early in our window with Nemec, Casey, Grits, Lenni, etc. still not here. Our young core is still learning. Maybe we took a step back to take a step forward in years to come, and that's okay.

We aren't, it was a clear step back year but they've also had a lot go wrong for them and they're arguably a bubble in team unless more shit hits the fan + Lindy can't get out of his way.

You don't think they're making the playoffs? Not sure I got your post.

Just noticed the standings that with a win tomorrow night we can leapfrog into the 3d Metro playoff spot (and the wild card too) over Philly, the Isles and Washington before heading out onto the road. All that competition is idle tomorrow night. Do it. Things are looking far better than they were after the Columbus game.
Its basically the first week of the season again. The division and conference is lumped together
