I can’t even tell who that is.

Looks like a bird cage mask, so it’s Hasek or Osgood. But I can’t pause it or get a good enough look. The only guy I can make out there is Lidstrom.
It’s Hasek. It’s not only a hilarious move, the announcers are such peak homer idiots about the him getting a tripping penalty.

He was playing the puck, what was Hasek supposed to do!?! Gaborik had his head down! (Because taking someone’s legs out from under them isn’t tripping when their head is down silly goose!)

Here’s a shorter higher quality video to watch the action.

This one is poorer quality in terms of picture, but longer, so you can listen to the Detroit announcers act like total goofs for 40 more seconds.

I'm trying to figure how the refs would call this in today's game.

Has to be a penalty shot?
You know, he got 2 minutes for tripping but good point about a penalty shot.

There ya go, it wasn’t from behind:

Just to give a back story on the Gaborik/Hasek tackle.

That was 5-0 win over the Wild on December 7, 2007.

Now here’s a description from Top 10 Moments from 2007-08 Season article from B/R:

What’s funny about that is it just has a quote from Hasek and sounds like it was written by number one fan lol.

Now before Sept 2014, when they changed the rule, you could get away with some trips if you played the puck first.

In this play however Hasek (and the Detroit announcers and the B/R writer) are the only people who thought he did that before plowing into an unsuspecting Gaborik.

Here’s an article from Twin Cities Pioneer Press that takes a more critical view.

It gets a mention in this 2014 Hasek article too.
