That was maybe one of the craziest games of the season.

With a completely random ending, where a defensive defenseman scores the OT winner. Where we’ve struggled to win games in the OT period this year.

And Boston’s OT record was like 7-8, but them winning 7 games in OT this year explains why they’re at the bottom of the conference, but not nearly the bottom of the league.

Most of the bottom of the East has a similar record and no one in the East will finish under 76 points and everybody’s won at least 33 games in the East.

If they don’t win all those OT games maybe they have a sub-30 win season.

The 3 really bad bottom feeders were all out west. The fourth worst team in the league will finish with potentially 24 more points than the worst team in the league.

Allen really saved NJ’s bacon tonight. What a performance!!!

I've finally settled, by game 81, that Tatar just can't really cut it in middle 6, can only hang in there with bottom 6 or 4th line even.

I don't know how he fell off so much, i mean he is older but not that old. But his hands and shot are done and ineffective.. I'm hoping he can find a measure of resurgence in the playoffs, assuming he gets in the roster for the games, as it will be one of his last chances to make a an exclamation mark on his career.

Very curious what Keefe will do with the bottom 6. Lazar and Bastian have seemingly been on the outside recently, I don't know if that is due to depth now, or they are recovering from something -- Lazar specifically. Both have been mostly ineffective on any points gathering.

Bastian has played a bit, but was also on the outside not that long ago, and generally hasn't been that effective. He did have a goal recently?

Sprong looked decent,, but somehow doesn't produce. Last game Sprong was visibly terrible though, fell alot and ruined some plays,

Glass came in hot, now has cooled off,.

Dowling is really liked by Keefe, but basically is just a power forechecker with wheels, but doesn't have much else to offer, specifically offensively.

Lastly, we have MacDermid which will get exposed, but he can truck some clowns. Clearly Keefe has seen how bad his skating is, so I doubt he sees a playoff game, but hey, we did win a lot with him in the games, somehow. And now we have some Utica filler.

Glass played with Bratt at first which helped him in my view.

What do you mean? We're used to having a Devils dman wearing #2 scoring in OT before. :sarcasm:

I don't wanna be that guy, but Nemec was very good today, at least by the eye test.

Definitely should be in consideration for the 7th D spot, once Dougie is back. He's stronger and more seasoned than Casey and at this rate, better than cholowski of course.
Gaining confidence does wonders

The criticism I've read against Nemec is silly for a player as inexperienced as he is. I hope management has a better handle on things than some of the posters on here. He needs more playing time, not less.

He made one comment in the foreign media which was translated into English and all of a sudden he's he bad guy. He looks like a punk kid, so I'm sure that doesn't help his case.

However, this kid could be a big part of our D for years and we've already invested the time to develop him. Moving him at this point would hurt the team's future.

Imagine to trust in your top prospect and give him time on yhe ice and not treat every prospect like Holtz. May be it can help. May be we were more tolerant for slaming of Luke Hughes mistakes and it payed well.

He could be apart of it, and it would be great if he would improve.

But, I don't think the criticisms of him are unfair either. He came out of the gate this season looking pretty bad after that injury recovery. He got outplayed by a 6th or 7th D out of camp.

It isn't just about the comment, its about the comment + his play + demeanor (stemming from his attitude in the AHL too early on this season).

Nemec is definitely looking better the last few games, he knows he is playing for 7th spot, so he's definitely trying to keep the momentum.

I don't know if Fitz will flip him in the offseason (i haven't decided if that would be the right or wrong move), but I won't be surprised if the Devils move him.

Sure, wish we could trust him.

He was competing against other guys out of camp and lost the battle for the 6th spot. Then when he was playing in and out, he didn't look good, got sent down (sulked in a AHL early on, until someone went to talk to him - Fitzy?), came up, looked not great and has been fighting for a spot again. Then he had that disaster of a 3rd period game, and then since then he's looked a lot more stable + last few games he's been in looks decent.

Will be curious if he gets any reps in the playoffs (probably not if Dougie is healthy), but we'll see if he wins favor by the organization going past the offseason.

Don't think the organization has yo-yo'ed him around like Holtz (yet).

He lost his spot do a bottom D (Kovacevic) out of bad play coming out of camp and into the early season.

Good for Dumo, he’s been steady yet unspectacular and done all we can ask for in Siegs absence.

His play (up until recent games) has been a little underrated around here.

Even just taking into consideration his stats:

1g 5a 6p in 18 games for a guy who came from the outside. Very good numbers.

He had a few bumbles in the early few games where he got beat, but since then, he's been pretty solid managing the puck.

I understand his history. He needs more NHL time, not less. Press box to observe for a couple games here and there, but as a chance to learn not as punishment for not playing like a veteran at 21.

when training camp starts, someone needs to change all the calendars in Timo's house and on his phone to read March instead of September

He was playing too poorly to get a regular shift. There is a wide gulf between 'playing like a veteran' and whatever Nemec was doing when he was brought up after Hamilton's injury.

Missed most of the 1st period on only tuned in for the last 30 seconds. Then Bill says "Rachel will be chatting with the newest Devil Marc McLaughlin." I said who the f*** is Marc McLaughlin. So I watched the intermission show.

Then the 2nd period started and the Bruins scored in the first 30 second and I shut it off. Cool they won though.

I actually dropped it early once we clinched because I was too excited about the playoffs  I’ll spam it out there once the series officially starts:

Ooo that angle on the Palat goal in Chicago, where’d you get that from. I need to see it with the game audio. Such a cool perspective
