This team played with a lot of heart tonight. We’ve showed a lot of heart more often than not this year, especially since Jack and Hamilton both went down and we’ve had to learn to win without them and despite a roster that was thin in spots to begin with.

Keep it up to the finish and this season is a success in my eyes no matter what. We are playing essentially playoff hockey right now, meaningful games going down the stretch. We’ve got a 7 point lead with 10 games to play. I’m not down on this team at all.

I like this guy.

Incredible that Bratt and Timo have stepped up with Jack out but now the defense and Markstrom suck ass. Losing teams find ways to lose. They have gone a half season with a cellar dweller record, most of those games being when they were fully healthy. Just abysmal.

I love Nico but I expected more out of him after Jack was hurt . I thought he’d elevate his game and help carry us . Nope . Bratt and Meier has but the other guys like Kuke and Nico who are the core pieces need to do more. Nico needs to get going here . Same as Luke . Our core / high end guys need to be our go to guys down the stretch and so far Nico hasn’t been that . Look at Suzuki in Montreal. The guy is carrying his team . He is scoring clutch goals when needed during key points during games and the season . We need Nico to do that .
Nico literally made the play to make it 2-1. and then won the faceoff in the final minute before Pesce and Palat f***ed it up

Sure but the team was shit for a while even with those guys as well. The struggles are not injury related.
Subtract the 1C, top shutdown D, and top offensive D from any team and it will be devastating. That they were struggling before makes it even worse, especially when the goalie also gets hurt and turns to poo

Markstrom might be an all time flop for us. If he were still injured and not still playing and actively hurting us by averaging over 2 goals against every 3rd period I wouldn’t be saying that.

But everything he’s done since returning has spoiled everything he did before he got hurt. He’s pretty much negated or broken even at the very best on all the good he did before the injury.

He’d be much more useful if he had just stayed on the IR.

1-6-1 since returning. Remember when WINS were always cited around here for goalies?

The fact that he’s actively hurting us is the huge problem.

at least the isles only got a point? hard to see us getting to 90 points tbh. I think we end up with 85

Isles right now are pacing for 86/87. 3 wins of our last 10 gets us to 87 and would have us in assuming things pan out that way. Certainly won’t be easy for these bums but they’ll probably get there. We’re getting bailed out by the Metro being unforeseen levels of ass

And whose fault is that? Markstrom’s or the guy who calls him mean names and mocks him?

Markstrom, Palat, Pesce. A lot of all time flops going around for us nowadays.

He had 2 good months of good play (even though one of the months the Devils played like the 95' Devils) and 2 months of bad play before he got hurt, he was so/so pre injury as well

I’m truly convinced people only look at who scores goals and nothing else.

Which he still also leads the team in by the way.

The fact anyone shits on Nico with all he does every single game blows my mind. I don’t know what people are watching sometimes.

this is so helpful. Sheldon should put this post on the f***ing locker room door so they can read how easy they can make their lives if they simply got their shit together.

Curse of Cory Schneider, haven't had a full year of good goaltending since

Literally the only good thing tonight is the Islanders gain no ground on us after losing to Columbus in the shootout.

After PK correctly told us that’s what happened, before douchebag Levi erroneously said that was not what happened in response to PK.

I was at the game. I remember being pissed off because I thought a defenseman could have cleared the puck before the Debrusk goal. Does anyone know who/if that was?

Let’s hope our Boston college goalie is the franchise

They're kind of all in the "these guys would be great additions if they were 3 years younger" category. Although Markstrom and Pesce at least have had some stretches of good play this year. Palat has just looked finished.

Which is why it was a big deal that they were sucking ass before the injuries. Who could have known that it actually does in fact matter when the team has the success rate of a lottery team for 10+ weeks? /sarcasm
