If you're gonna quote me - do it for the right reasons. I posted a pic of Ramsay saying you kicked me in the nuts with "Seeing Wood on the PP" and I posted that after sure enough he was out on the PP late in the game.

So go play Monday morning QB quote trolling somewhere else.
Some of y’all are taking this way too seriously… It’s all in good fun and a joke. Not meant to be that deep. Apologies for offending.

They’ve given up multiple goals and great looks lately where the puck gets low and then 4 or 5 Devils are low in the zone with the eyes pointed at the puck giving 2 or 3 opponents the ability to roam free behind them.

The team needs to keep their eyes moving but it is very difficult to do with this system. The system asks any of the 3-4 players to start pressuring the puck if it goes a certain way so they end up with eyes glued to the puck to see if they’re supposed to start attacking. If they start looking behind them then they may miss the moment already in front of them.

It’s happened less often this year as the Devils pressuring has happened more quickly but the last few games it’s crept back in. I think it’s a combination of physical and mental fatigue. They need to pressure more quickly and keep their heads moving; which I think will return.

We basically cheat to get more pressure the on puck careers to gain possession faster.

If the opposing player maintains possession then they can exploit you in all sorts of ways if you committed too much to the puck carrier.

We’ve played a lot better defensively and it went from:

(It was far from the worst in the league but we habitually handed over some prime real estate.)

Ruff’s system is very tough on guys. They have to rely on constant speed and quick reads, mental fatigue is a killer.

Fitz hasn’t announced any extension for Ruff yet so who knows. (Looks like I was right to be disappointed when Boston hired Montgomery lol.)

Ruff can't be back next year. He's on the older side and there's a younger obvious successor standing next to him behind the bench already. Fitz needs to give Lindy an upstairs office gig and make the obvious move here.

I hear what you are saying and tend to agree....but It's hard not to give the guy another kick at the can if he wants it with the success he's had. Especially where some of the star players are concerned.

I actually think the opposite, he knows what he came here for which was to develop Jack/Nico after Hynes completely sheltered/stunted their growth. And with them basically being a top 5 team and a capable HC in waiting in Brunette, this would be the perfect time to walk away for Lindy. I'm also sure he doesn't want to be booed again at a home opener or give Devils fans the chance to chant fire Lindy again.

This system leads to terrible hockey in one's defensive end even after a team gets it. When a team has no idea how to manage it, it's a catastrophic disaster. Puck watching is the 2022-23 Utica Comets Waterloo. They were able to outscore it last season with a highly talented offensive team. They don't have that offense now. The defensive end multiple gaffes combined with the over commitment and pinching in the offensive end resulting in the same multiple 2 on 1s and breakaways I see when watching the Devils, leads to goal after goal and loss after loss for a weak offensive team.

That's not a Hawks jersey. That's a Jersey jersey. I know the Hawks jersey you're thinking of and it's not that. That Hawks jersey has a shoulder patch.
i think @njdevils1982 was joking, since our Jersey Jersey is basically the retro hawks one

blackhawks wore that thing in 1927-28, while the newark bulldogs straight up ripped it a year later

You see...I don't know all the LORE of every single thing that's hockey, Nom.

Nor do I care to know, tbh.

In fact, I find even this bit of info to be pretty irrelevant to what I was stating to Bleedred earlier.

The only thing I associate these black jerseys with are the Devils (well...okay...they did remind me of the Brooklyn Nets jerseys a bit..yuck).

But still, It's a Devils jersey.

Nothing more, nothing less.

So....moving on.... :boredom:

Congrats on being a finalist for the Jack Adams, Lindy - now get out would be an interesting conversation to have…and ironic too considering Lindy’s coaching career started when the Sabres disposed of Ted Nolan after actually winning the Jack Adams.

He’s never won a Stanley Cup, and whatever issues we have with his coaching, he has a legit shot to do so if he remains behind the bench, I don’t think this is the fait accompli others do. He’s especially not stepping aside voluntarily.

I still think the plan was for Ruff to either walk away, retire, or be kicked upstairs in some other role with Brunette taking over as head coach, but that was before we became one of the top teams in the league. It'll be interesting to see what happens now.

This is pure speculation but I feel like Ruff is onboard with moving upstairs after this season. It would be a really passive aggressive move to hire a guy who is due a HC job and give him the title of Associate Coach with the intention of firing the current coach after this season. That doesn't really seem to be Fitz' leadership style. To me this screams of a plan that has been agreed upon by everyone beforehand including Lindy.
