While I would understand if the team is reluctant to trade him, I'm starting to lean towards camp "trade him in a package for an upgrade".

I still hold out hope for Nemec going forward but as it stands Casey gives us more of what we need right now. Hamilton, Hughes, and Casey can all provide O from the D corps. The injury to Siegs has opened the door to more production from the back end

There’s plenty of undersized D that have been strong defenders and Casey has a strong understanding of how to defend and he’s really smart. I think in a few years after he’s a fully grown adult he’ll be fine.

I know more than one person will hate this and it's not an insult at all, but it reminds me of Severson when he first debuted. He had like 4 goals in his first 8 games or something, and on some pretty big shots.

But it felt like his shot dropped off for several years after that before improving I think in year 4 maybe?

I think I remember Severson producing early, can't remember if it was goals or not..

Nemec did well in the NHL for like 40 games as a rookie. Personally, it’s hard for me to square that with his current production. Knowing the shoulder injury is real and he took a while in the A to get it going…you’re selling at his low point.

I still think he can be something but I’m going to be a lot quicker than most to move on from him since I was never anywhere near as high on him and have like Casey a lot more for a while.

It’s unlikely you get a young guy on a value deal. Teams will want to dump older players or overpaid guys.
