Jack-Haula-Dowling-Lazar is just not good enough depth down the middle. I don’t know how many games you can win with that center unit BUT today is a total gutless performance irregardless

Having Nico back will help tremendously

the Devils absolutely have not been "losing like this for a month". That just isn't true.

its fine to be pissed about how they look tonight, but lets not make shit up.
Exactly like this? Maybe not, but you can't deny there have been a bunch of disturbing losses since the break.

You know I'm not someone who comes in here and bitches for the sake of bitching, and I don't get too wrapped up in one game, but the last month has been painful and they only seem to snap out of it every 4th game.

Adin Hill is f***ing terrible lmao.

If they put 30 shots on him, this is a 5-3 Devils win
I can’t think of a bigger nobody starting goalie to win a cup in my life. There may be a couple. I can think of a bunch on the cup losing teams like Khudobin not long ago. Not many on the cup winners. Some will say Niemi though.

He’ll go down as the biggest JAG cup winning starter of all time.

He will be a stumper of a trivia question. People will forget who the starter there was for that cup win in just a few years.

And they could have kept the better goalie for under a million, but traded him for hardly shit, kept this joker and signed Samsonov for double what they were paying frickin Thompson.

It’s fairly normal to have stretches of play that are varying degrees of terrible. We had a few in our record setting season a couple years ago. When they come with zero luck, they look very ugly. And they can be hidden with great luck.

We also don’t have to pretend that missing Nico against a top team isn’t massive. Along with the first game without a guy who has been literally the best defensive dman in the NHL this season. But these are “excuses” that won’t explain why we were bad in 2017 or however long the bad streak has been now.
Hischier was playing for about four and a half of these five weeks. We’ve cycled through a lot of those “excuses” on this streak, from illness, to fatigue, shooting percentage regression, now injury - at some point if you can scattergun that many potential excuses, it’s probably not any one thing at any one time. They’re just not playing well.

And again, we’re talking about a quarter of the season at this point. I don’t know when exactly you have to stop calling it a “stretch”, but we’re getting there.

have you seen Vegas' record since New Years? are they a good team?

the Devils sucked shit tonight. They have NOT looked like this for a month, that just isnt true.
lol the broadcast was talking about Vegas’ play through that and basically they’ve looked just as good or better as they have all season in these games they’ve been losing lately. It’s not even comparable.

Vegas by the way is the only other team in a playoff position other than they devils that are bottom five in the nhl for wins since new years.

Find a way to win Saturday and they’re on a 5-3 stretch going into the break. Little effort was given tonight so no excuse not to empty the tank against the Habs

In many ways Michael Leighton dodged a bullet when the Flyers lost the cup.

Because it would have most certainly been him.
