I absolutely f***ing hate it. Recently they’ve also started behaving more like fans than broadcasters. At one point last night Sal was literally saying “Come on {insert devils shooter}, win this one for Daws”. It also bothers me that they refer to several of the players by their nicknames, as if they are teammates.

I obviously want them to have some slant towards the team, but this shit is just cringy.
I don't always mind it, especially for a tough name, but "Marky" is certainly one I could do without.

The Pens almost looked like they were playing for the shootout last night.

Which is weird, because their shootout record this year was bad even before last night.

But I didn’t actually know their shootout record before looking at it after last night’s game ended.

I'd try my chances in the shootout against the Devils rather than try to match firepower with them 3v3.

I would legitimately ask Sid. He's that important to your franchise.

Have a conversation with him and be like: look, we're stuck between a rock and a hard place. You want to stay forever, we want you to stay forever. We want to ice as competitive a team as possible, but right now it just doesn't look like that's in the cards. For the benefit of the franchise you have sweat and bled for, we're going to tear it down to the studs around him (minus malkin and letang unless they wanna go) unless you tell us you absolutely do not want that, in which case we'll keep treading water.

I think he'd give you his blessing to do it, in all honesty. I have a lot of beef with Sid stans, but gave up criticizing him as a player or leader a very long time ago.

Pens were a real tire fire his first year, poetic if his time concludes there the same way.
I think you're right. I also think a smart GM could sell like mad and still put together a good young competitive team if you gauge the market for your established vets correctly. Malkin, Karlsson, Letang, Rust, Rakell could all bring back top prospects for teams that are exactly in our spot...a player or two away from feeling confident about a run, with kids who are maybe a year or two short of fully baked...Which is pretty much the whole East.

And if those prospects are Nemec/Casey caliber, or a guy like Laf who can't put it together, or some RFA you think might break the bank, you could end up with a solid team next year.

even if Jack scored on that breakaway it was a horrible tv product and best believe that’s what the nhl cares about most. More teams play keep away it will change
Nobody likes the shootout, that’s horrible product. The current style of play is preventing games from going to shootout at the highest rate ever. They aren’t touching it, I have no idea why you’re convinced of this. But then again you have also thought it’s “inevitable” that the nhl will copy the nba’s play-in gimmick…despite the fact that it’s a proven horrible product that fans don’t actually care for and is certain to be even less well received by hockey people.
