And like clockwork, after every loss, there is a miniature civil war between those who are understanding of how a game like this may have played out in the midst of a long season and those who want to either treat each loss like the end of the world while simultaneously beat their chest about how they identified these problems well before this and labeling any time an explanation is provided as “excuse making”.

This same exact discussion was going on last week before we won our next two games. I really do not want to be someone who tries to tell someone how to be a fan, but it has to be exhausting to be so distraught at every loss over an 82 game season. Be my guest, you do you. But it shouldn’t be shocking that people get fed up with that. Say what you want about the “Baghdad Bob” types, but most are simply not trying to let game-by-game results dictate their opinion on the team.

I already know I’ll take my lumps here as a more optimistic fan. But I’d much rather be in that boat.
Well, each loss strings together to form a pattern of play. And this one has been going on for a month. And as noted in the post quoted below, it's quite tiring for a cadre of posters to take it upon themselves to regulate how other people react to and interpret what they're watching.

Every team has excuses on any given night. For example, we heard a lot about the Devils illness bug as an "explanation" for a series of losses, meanwhile, Philly was dealing with the same thing last night and managed to deal with us just fine. These things don't get tied in neat bows. No one knows who's right and wrong necessarily, but there's a group that refuses to entertain the idea that they may not have all the answers.
Or you could say it’s a civil war between venters and posters with a constant need to police others, it’s all a matter of perspective. It’s fine to be optimistic but it’s stupid when people try to win the narrative and look for gotchas from other fans, I swear some of you (not you specifically) are more intent on winning the thoughts and feelings war than this team is on getting out of its malaise.

Yes there are drive by doomers and chronic complainers but not every single complaint or complainer fits neatly in that box and there’s no point even engaging those people to begin with. The pollyannas who never see anything wrong can be just as bad the other way, especially since it’s not usually the doomers picking fights with everyone else here.
100%.

I must say, I like the renovations they did at that arena. It looks good. Of course they will demo it in 5 years after spending X millions lmao

I need to make a “Bleed bat sign” for @ZachaFlockaFlame when it comes to this topic lmao

Poster isn't wrong but they won't get it imo. Definition of insanity with Freddy/Kotchekov for them

Well you said this board didn’t/doesn’t view the team this way. I’m showing you exhibit A of posters that do.

One of the most positive posters + they used the Vegas odds like I said before who are absurdly high on this Devils teams, that's a small minority of this board who twist everything as a Devils pro argument
