This would be a real bad loss if they can’t get the next one. Even a OTL loss would be bad.

Yeah, at this point, I'm bargaining for a point too even though we were up 3-1 as loser mentality that is
As I said earlier. Unlike the Toronto game where we were gassed and looked done by the end of regulation, this would be a point lost. That was a point gained.

For multiple reasons this would be a point lost. Because of being up 2 goals, not to mention this is one of the teams that's on our tail after our death march since Christmas.

It's not that the individual faceoffs themselves don't matter. If a team was winning 100% or 0% that'd likely be pretty big. When every team is falling between like 45-55% though the importance people put on faceoffs is overblown and the research has shown faceoffs don't impact results.

There is so much context to that that surely you can’t make a giant sweeping generalization

Faceoffs are just another puck battle, rarely do goals happen straight off the faceoffs like tonight. No one says those goals don't happen but they're rare. Always a weird gotcha with this argument, they only matter on the powerplay and empty net situations.

I would be really interested in seeing how much offense Sid Crosby has generated being a top faceoff guy in the league for a long time. I bet a good percentage of his goals and assists began with him winning a faceoff somewhere.

If you watched this game, before the 4 minute mark of period2 - Nico won like four faceoffs in a row, and MTL didn't leave their zone for 2+ minutes. He lost the next one, they came down and totally flipped the script.
