Severson’s plays were more one-off gaffes. On the whole he’s a solid, smart defender especially toward the end of his time here.
I think the argument here is that Luke, Nemec, and even Bahl lack the veteran poise and that’s understandable given their lack of experience. They’ll absolutely learn it in time, but I think it’s clearly evident watching Luke on the power play or Luke-Nemec when 6-on-5 situations arise.
It’s all tiny little details, but feels like those are the ones that kill momentum at times when veteran players have a keener sense of awareness. Feels like it’s an underrated skill set in defensemen that takes time to learn.
