I mean, it is 25% of the season. What percentage of at bats over a baseball season is 24? I feel like it's a hell of a lot less than 25.
Still a very small sample size where random things can happen, but yeah as I said, I know we're in the market of worrying for worrying sake around these parts.

Team looks way better than last year. There's plenty of evidence to suggest they are. And there's plenty of evidence to suggest the play in front of the goalies has been a lot better. As much as I still believe the goalies last year were bad, they had expected save percentages of somewhere in the upper .890's. This year they have expected save percentages in the upper .900's.

So when we see games where the goalie doesn't look so great, it's probably more their fault behind this year's team than it was behind last year's team. Except for that Tampa game at home. That was a bad one by the team. Not so much the goalie. That's a game that happens to a team a few times every year.

If Markstrom was really so good this season, he'd be a .915%-.920% goalie on this year's team. I'm not saying he should be a .915%-.920% goalie, I'm just saying that he hasn't been so good like they want us to believe. He's barely playing expected and that was before this game where he was a -1.5 GSAx.

Its something that will even out and what really matters is that we are getting more wins then loses, which we are.

Team plays on a 100 point pace all year i really don't care if every lose in that season is a shut out

AAHAHAHAAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAH Well at least Markstrom didn't do this. Allen nearly did the other night lol

Caps tied it though, so it'll just be whatever in the pantheon of memes lol.

As for the game, I don't care much for it, they went down early and then the Blues just decided they stopped caring and were legit scared to even attack because of our rush offense. Smart but I don't want to hear from any NHL fanbase how the trap ruined hockey when teams are doing it to us in advantageous situations in a boring manner. Get Timo for Friday and run the Red Wings off the rink/scoreboard. Also, need to have discussion on more Allen starts over Markstrom

I like a lot of what this team has been doing lately but it’s alright to point out the flaws. No doubt it would be nice to have a legit sniper in the top 6. I think that would truly put the O over the top. Will be tough for Fitz to make that work though this season

Outside of the Nashville game and I mean it's Nashville they've not not been able to generate much of anything at 5v5. They're constantly bailed out by the PP. Sure it's nice to have the elite PP but as we saw tonight it can't always bail you out.

Another top 6 add would really help a lot.

Little more 5 on 5 offense and this team can realistically challenge Carolina for the division.

The weird thing is their goaltending still might be an issue with how Carolina plays since we'll probably meet them round 2 if everything goes well, Markstrom hasn't shown he's consistent for a team that just shoots from everywhere in a series for us to win it with good goaltending and we can't really trust Jake Allen in 2024. But yeah I do agree, we need a forward add.

Aren't they top 10 in 5v5 xGF/60? Sure they could be slightly better but not generating anything seems bit harsh.

Yep it’s my one real concern at the moment. Based on the cap situation I don’t know if we’re getting anything other than a cheap bottom 6 add or two

Yes well it’s a need when the guy making 8.8 million and the other guy making 6 only have 10 goals between them

Devils have to figure out what to do in a game like this. When you get down 3-0 against officials that won't call penalties, you have to start throwing dubious hits. If you take a penalty, whatever, maybe you get the Blues off their game, maybe they start retaliating, maybe they start calling penalties on the Blues again. You need the officials calling penalties on the other team. Maybe you get a 4 on 4 out of things, that's also a win.

If Cotter did what he did in the 2nd period, great. Someone has to learn to do that.

I will be checking if either of these officials are used in the playoffs. They should not be.

The first five minutes of the game were absolutely egregious. I know people will brush it off, but calls and missed calls as bad as this can really take you off your game and completely influence a game, right from the start. That's what happened tonight.

Wonder is Keefe addresses it in the post game. Probably won't.

10th right now but boosted a lot by these last 2 games. Before this they're 16th and 14th in GF/60. Nashville was legitimately great even if a weak opponent. Tonight it's completely fake and boosted by St Louis not even trying cross their own blue line for 45 minutes. They also brought up "lately" so I was more focused on that and we've been much worse of late. In the 10 games from the the start of November until before Nashville it was 27th in xGF/60 and 24th in GF/60...

Enjoyed that curt Keefe interview. Implied blame in the right places. Also didn't like the ref call but there was so much time to make up for it.

Someone needs to make a pissed post game interview Keefe-o-meter.

He seemed to be at about a 6 or 7.
