I don’t want to tear down Nose but he actually didn’t pass that puck.

His battling was key but Saros poked the puck away to get it out of the battle pile and Nico jumped on it.

Damn, you're right. I even zoomed in before making that comment, but zoomed ng further, it appears you are correct

Either way, he caused all that chaos in front that forced Saros to randomly swat at the puck.

Asking out of legitimate curiosity. Do we think he meant to do that? I do believe he meant to get it out of the scrum. But do we think he new Nico was right there?

It appears I was wrong. It looks like it was Saros that poked that puck away.

I have no idea what Nashville is doing. It's almost like when Trotz came in he was like ''Yeah, so, we're gonna do whatever we can to get our long tenured vets here a cup. Josi, Forsberg, Pekka''.

Until someone was like ''Pekka has been retired for years now!''

Oh, that other Finnish guy that plays goal for us. Let's lock him up a really long time. Good thing is he's just barely under 30 unlike most of these other guys who are already over 30 and some well over 30!

I wonder if they're gonna be wishing they let Saros go/traded him and let someone else extend him while they kept Askarov. Saros will likely keep them from really bottoming out anytime soon.

My guess is they probably run it back again next year. They're probably not as bad as their record. They're probably a mediocre to average team masquerading as a bottom feeder. Last year they were an average to mediocre team masquerading as a playoff team.

They were MUCH faster last year though. I don't think we've seen a team that slow this year.

It turns out combining a coach that likes to have a fast, rush-based style of attack with new additions on the wrong side of 30 was a terrible idea. Bill Spaulding kind of hinted as much on the broadcast last night.

If Brunette gets fired, he'll land somewhere else and do a good job with a roster that suits his style. This is all Trotz's fault, as far as I'm concerned.

I agree

Though I'm not sure of Brunette will be as quick to get a head coaching job this time. He could get one again, I just think he'll probably be further behind in the queue.

I think what happened in Florida after he left might take away some of his reputation points around the league. Two straight cup finals appearances and a win after he was fired. I think they still could have made both finals and won the last one with him instead of Maurice, but I just wonder if the powers that be in the league feel that way.

I even referred to that dichotomy early in the GDT

I don’t know what’s been said about the Timo major I wasn’t on here paying attention. All I know is I love it I don’t care if it was “dirty” or a major or put the team down late in a game or he’s going to get suspended. Go out there be physical be hard to play against and set the tone that’s all I want from these guys.

Us in 19-20, the addition of Subban was pretty good considering we'd have Trouba on the roster currently since it was rumored between us and NYR for him that summer but Subban was never going to be a good add. Gusev, albeit a very heady player, another very slow guy that was brought in. Nashville's offseason was us in 19-20 to a tee.

There's no pushback or hate from fans from being physical from guys who actually know how to play hockey. The pushback is when you have complete goons wasting a roster spot and can't even play the sport. Timo being a physical presence is something we need, it changed a playoff series for us in 2023 v NYR. Need more of it even when Timo isn't on the score sheet or is having a bad stretch of games which he has lately.

It was super obvious that they should have traded Saros.

The only reason to have gone the direction they did (IMO) is if they didn't believe Askarov was goig to be good enough soon enough.

Otherwise, you trade Saros and get yourself a haul. The Devils clearly would have been interested. The Sens, Kings, Avs.

They weren’t going to get a haul for saros. The preds had over what 95pts last year? You really expected them to trade their star franchise goalie promote a unproven rookie goalie and enter a rebuild? I’m not saying what they did will work out but it’s been 25 games who knows what will happen this year or next year. I know for a fact the first option wouldn’t have been any better

Fitz made a very similar mistake last year. Lindy's Devils played at warp speed and he made them slower and they suffered for it.
