That was a prototypical trap game that last season they would have lost for sure. Great to see them develop into the direction of a really good team. I liked the 4th line, btw, too bad Bowers missed on his huge chance, but Dowling put one in. Well deserved and so nice to see.

That post game Nico interview almost had me tearing up. I can’t believe it’s been 7 years. He really does seem like he’s a great guy.

Once again. I continue to be amazed how much Keefe has improved this team. Also Fitz needs to get a ton of credit for the additions. Couldn’t be happier after this last few games. Please for god sakes keep this up and give us a cushion so we breathe easier

It's getting cliche to say this, but this is a game that the Devils would have lost last year at any number of junctures. That 5-minute major was a master class of penalty killing, and it would have absolutely rattled them before.

Next game is the final test: get a winning streak over three games.

Blues will throw everything at us. Absolutely worst timing ever to play them.

Nico, this friggin' guy. Asked where this ranks for his moments as a Devil, he takes his time and mentions he's played better games where he didn't score and that he doesn't judge his game just based on that.

He's Patty reincarnated.

Also, I enjoy Haula being asked if he heard the standing ovation after the kill and he said of course and that he wasn't deaf.

For those who didn’t get to see it, Keefe is asked about Timo’s penalty in his presser. I think he does defend it in a way by saying there was obviously no intent since it’s a bang-bang action in a battle, but wants more restraint to be shown given the result and where the game was at the time.

Deep down, I have a feeling he isn’t THAT upset by it given the incredible kill and what L’Hereux had done earlier to Cotter.

I’ll be despondent if he ever leaves.

I feel he’ll be a lifer as long as he can help it. Obviously as players get older and production becomes less consistent, you just never know. But he seems like the type who commits to where he is.
Ya I'm almost certain Nico will be a lifer here. Exception to like his final year or two like Marty, which I never cared that he played for the Blues for a few games and don't understand why some people are still mad about it today. He's still a lifer to me.

The longer this goes on the sillier it gets. We’re 24 games into the year now and still no one ever comes close to them

If you look at the actual stats, they are basically leading the league as well. If they can keep 60% rate the rest of the season, and the other pairings find some synergy, things are good.

I wish he wouldn’t have played for the Blues, only because I think he was done by that point. I was happy he wasn’t playing for us that year. I would have been happier if he actually played the entire year for St. Louis and not just 7 games. Seemed a waste after he didn’t get signed until like December because Elliott was injured and was pushed off the ice about a month later when Elliott returned from injury. I think if he would have hit the 700 win mark it would have been worth it. But for him to only get 3 more wins and 7 more games? (I think only 6 were starts) I don’t think it was worth it. But I don’t have ill will towards him for it.

He was part of a goalie tandem with none other than Jake Allen for that month.

It’s only because he wasn’t a Devils lifer that I never rule out a player not sticking with one team their entire career.
