What strikes me most is how well in doing this we stood up to them physically. That was the key to holding them off. A team that had habitually bullied us couldn’t do that last night - indeed in contrast to that, we gave better than we got .

That’s a huge difference this year. We play a physical game against anyone.
Was evident in the Florida games as well, especially the 2nd game.

Tonight I thought the Kova fight was a low key moment. The fact that we can have a big guy drop the gloves and hold his own, and yet still have Dillon waiting in the wings if we need to throw down again is a statement.

Cotter out there laying big hits. Noesen always in the mix. Both guys willing and able if need be.

The team dynamic is night and day from 2 years ago.

4-1 in that stretch. Wild. Lots of great wins against good teams.

That said, get Foote off this team. I just can't figure out why he keeps getting chances. Utica sucks and yet almost every forward option there is a better call up than him.
He's a big guy with some skills. Has a decent stat line in Utica this season. I've thought he's looked pretty good in the NHL in his previous call ups.

He's battled injuries, sounds like it's been a back thing, hopefully he is past that.

I didn't think he looked good last night, and I would go back to Bowers who I thought did look good in the previous game, but it's also one game for each.

New Jersey(No Fanz!)
He must be ignoring Rogalski.
I mean...he's a Vet and knows how to play the position properly without any "advice", I imagine.

I can just picture him nodding his head on whatever Rogalski says, then just completely disregard everything and stick to what he had been doing his entire career in net.

Devils are 12-0 when carrying a lead into the 3rd now. They have learned how to lock it down and close out good games that they should be winning.

In general yeah they've been good at that. Idk if last night was that though lol. Allen saved their ass hard in the 3rd

Allen has been saving a lot this year. Perfect back up so far this season, better than our starter who has been decent too. Good sign that even when the team isn’t having a good night, somebody will step up. Tatar has stepped up a couple games, along with the adventurous pair scoring goals to lock down a win is encouraging. Meier Hischier and Luke are next in line to bang some goals in

Foote has been very lucky in his time in the NHL but he would rate as one of the greatest goal scorers of all time. He has scored 6 goals in 224 minutes of ice time. Over the past 3 seasons, he is 2nd in goals/60 rate 5v5 for forwards who've played 100 minutes or more.

Regarding the first goal on Allen last night and it being a deflection or not.

I was watching the highlights of the game for my goal review this morning. They usually have it with the home broadcast, which was Washington. The Capitals color commentator Craig Laughlin was really giving it to Allen for allowing that goal when it happened. He said he just missed it and should have had it. You can see that it goes off of Foote and then up and over Allen's glove. He goes to catch it, but his glove isn't high enough to catch it because of the deflection. So, no, I didn't nail Allen on it.

Oh, and at some point later even the Capitals crew and Craig Laughlin cleared it up that it did go off Foote. Laughlin then laughed and said ''I still think he should have had it'' and he was laughing as he said it, but I think with what he said after all that, he was clearly joking. Because after that he said, ''I gotta apologize to Jake on that one. I thought he just whiffed on it''. So I think he was just kidding when he said he still should have had it before that.

For some reason the NHL app this year is acting really weird when a goalie is scored on by an own goal.

You go to look at their stats on the game log and it says Allen made 24 saves on 25 shots, which would only be one goal allowed, but it still says 2 under GA.

I've noticed that in a few games across the league this year.

I recall a poster that likes to tell everyone how right they are about everything saying that Fitz should’ve been fired for the Allen trade.

“I was chastised for saying….”

“I was lambasted for saying….”

Gets me every time they pop in with the puffed out chest when things aren’t going great and then disappear when the team plays well
