if its not b2b or too many games now its too few games? no excuses anymore this team has to play a solid 60 min game against a legitimate playoff team if they want to be taken seriously.
B2B I don’t think matter but I do believe 3rd game in 4 nights and multiple days off in a row do affect the game played that night.

I don’t believe it’s an excuse, it’s just reality. Teams doing their 3rd game in 4 nights are tired and we see that reflected in record. Teams coming off long rests have lost some of their game timing edge; I don’t know if we see this reflected in record or if it’s just visual.

I do think the long layoff may not impact record because while the game timing is often bad the first 10-20 minutes, they will often have more energy at the end of game so it all may balance out.

Were the back to back games against Florida not enough to show the team is serious? Or is every loss against a good team proof the team isn’t serious but any win doesn’t?

Went to scout them last Saturday. They played poorly and still won 4-0. Somehow they replaced 6 people up front with some young guys and some journeymen and are scoring 3-4 goals per game. Somehow they replaced two excellent D and have a pretty decent defense. Their main hole is goaltending which after Anderson predictably went down to injury is just okay.

Necas is an animal. When they struggled to sign him a year or two ago I wanted us to figure out a way to get him.
Playing poorly and still winning 4-0?

That sounds like something that can be a regular occurrence when you’re playing a team coached by Travis Green.

Again, every game can't be treated as an indicator of the team's identity. There's 82 of these things, there will always be ebbs and flows in a team's performance. Obviously this is a big one and has a lot of stakes surrounding it this early in the season, but let's not gloss over what they just did on the road to the defending champs at the same time.

Keefe said it best yesterday in his media availability that he feels that they're in a good place and that they are playing much better in this past 10 game stretch vs. the first 10 games. But they need to strive for consistency, especially against the best teams in the league.

I'm excited for this one. Feels like playoff-stake level hockey in November. Beautiful thing.

I think they're going to get smoked, depends on which Markstrom shows up. The Canes can score a bunch without giving up much, if anything, going to be a tough one.

A win at home against this PITA team would be huge.

They just make it look so easy. Someone is always loose in front of the goalie on offense. Someone is always blocking the shot on defense. They always get shots off and even from dead angles they are troublesome. They are constantly in motion and always in the right place. It's really frustrating to watch since on a player to player basis shouldn't be that good. They get away with a lot of clutch and grab and off puck interference which I cannot stand. They are also on something of a shooting bender and their PDO is a bit high. But their other advanced numbers support their stellar play. Maybe if they'd play some games where they got hit and hurt it would help but they don't seem to get bogged down in those. Give them credit, they are getting everything from their lineup.

Not feeling too confident about this one, but I wasn’t against the Canucks and against the Panthers.

Canes games always come down to how well you breakout. They didn’t have it earlier this season in Raleigh. I’m hopeful after some rest and practice they’ll be better prepared for the Canes aggressive forecheck.
Their games against Florida have made me confident that they'll show an improved effort tonight. Will it be a win? Who knows.

zero excuses tonight to not come out and compete. they have to start winning these games and not just the teams they wont face in the playoffs or fight for a playoff spot against. canes/caps/rangers 3/3/4 games in hand on us. there should be zero excuses or questions on what type of team will show up tonight.
