The boys are going to need their energy

And properly channel that energy to take down the Canes.

I know we all want this game bad. Let's take it to them on the very first shift and not look back.

And have ourselves a nice, hearty laugh by night's end.

Oh man, George of the Jungle. What a random GDT theme.

I loved that movie as a kid, this brings back memories.

@njdevils1982 posted the laughing video after one of the games last week and it jogged my memory that it could have a lot of useful GDT gifs.

It's one of the only movies I can keep my 3 year old son still for a significant portion of it, and it's honestly a funny ass movie as an adult.

I don’t think it is overstating to say that beginning Thursday through the new Year is the most important stretch of the season. 3 games against the Hurricanes, 2 vs Washington, 2 vs Rangers. They finish the season series vs the Caps and Hurricanes.

Come out ahead during this stretch and you have assured the playoffs and are competing for the division title. Come out behind and the team is firmly in a wild card spot or worse on the bubble for the rest of the season.

I'll give this game the most important award, Canes are pluswise (+30) and pointwise higher than the rest.

I'm still a sceptic. A good fought game here can go long way. Unlike the Panthers games, I expect this to be almost a playoff style intensity.

This will be a big test. For me, should we make some mistakes against Carolina it will be acceptable. They are an excellent team destroying every other team. Sure I want a win. The tired excuse for the Devils has been removed. This is the game you get up for. Sometimes young teams over prepare.

Whatever the case just play hard for 60 minutes Devils.

Go Devils

I fear that we will be rusty in the first period after four days off. So survive that. I also haven’t liked our lack of intensity in general at home all season - so please none of that.

Maybe we can have a real home crowd who actually pick us up?

Really I have to say I don’t know what to expect from us tonight. Next game against the Caps I’ve much more confidence in.

Went to scout them last Saturday. They played poorly and still won 4-0. Somehow they replaced 6 people up front with some young guys and some journeymen and are scoring 3-4 goals per game. Somehow they replaced two excellent D and have a pretty decent defense. Their main hole is goaltending which after Anderson predictably went down to injury is just okay.

Necas is an animal. When they struggled to sign him a year or two ago I wanted us to figure out a way to get him.

Scheduling has been brutal so I agree rust could be an issue and if Carolina gets out on us early the crowd could easily become rough....

New Novo puts together an actual article for a game day read. I'd like to read it, but I can't even get to it with the Google news workaround.
This link worked for me.

I googled the titled and then hit the news tab off the original Google search.

if its not b2b or too many games now its too few games? no excuses anymore this team has to play a solid 60 min game against a legitimate playoff team if they want to be taken seriously.

zero excuses tonight to not come out and compete. they have to start winning these games and not just the teams they wont face in the playoffs or fight for a playoff spot against. canes/caps/rangers 3/3/4 games in hand on us. there should be zero excuses or questions on what type of team will show up tonight.
