Why? It stems from the argument that Konecny got overpaid. He has been riding shotgun with Giroux and JVR/Couturier for most of the last two seasons, which has got to account for a lot of his points. They're assuming he gets better and will start to drive his own line but we will see.
Konecny - Good contract for a good player. That contract will not turn into a negative value contract and he has upside. He does not have to be a line driver to justify $5.5 per. If I was GM I would be very happy to have that contract on my team.

last night’s game was eerily similar to our home opener a few years back...i want to say against dallas. i believe it was maclean’s first game as head coach. expectations were high, we came out strong, then we shit the bed. let’s hope we get our first W out of the way tonight and nip this thing in the asshole

Maybe we get off to another shitty start but fire the coach earlier this time and Lemaire can save us again and we make it this time

I just saw the pic of Coleman’s mouth on Twitter. Man I would not be shocked he if came out of the lineup tonight after seeing that. I can’t imagine how it must feel today. Hynes of course would replace him with Rooney and not Boqvist though. So it would be a double loss.

At the very least Coleman should probably be wearing a full shield tonight until the dental surgery happens.

I said the EXACT same thing last night.

This game was too similar to the MacLoser opener, only we didn't blow a 4 goal lead. We blew a 2 (I think?) goal lead and it happened much earlier in the game, if I recall correctly. And we lost that one in OT, not a shootout.

In that game we looked like the best team in the league for 10-15 minutes, then the wheels fell off. Last night we looked like the best team in the league for 2 periods and then the wheels came off.

Yep I think almost all of us had flashbacks to that disaster.

Idk what game you all were watching. Even when it was 4-0 I was saying it sure doesn't feel like they deserve this lead. I still don't feel comfortable.

I certainly don't think the team played a good game. Obviously being up 4-0 was great, but the transition game was still bad. The cycle game was non-existent.

Wasn't impressed by either team heading into the 3rd.

Except for about 5 players on our team, we completely controlled the game from start to finish, even in the third period. Terrible defensive lapses, goaltending issues due to injury and Blackwood coming in cold, and Hynes being a f***ing idiot with the line jumbling cost us this game.

Agree to disagree I guess. Was at the game and didn't get that feeling at all despite the score. Only 3 forwards had what I would consider a "good" game: Gusev, Nico, Coleman.

They mostly capitalized on some broken plays, which hey, that's great. A goal is a goal. I just didn't view it as a dominant performance at any point.

It's okay, my gf was looking at me like I was stupid/hammered when I was saying this last night too.

I remember spending that summer thinking how unstoppable we'd be with both Parise and Kovalchuck.

The next game was that 7-2 clown show in Washington where Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond jumped a rookie Marcus Johansson.

The best part about that was that PL3 never played for us again.

I am always impressed by you people that can remember specifics of various regular season games...I mean anyone can remember playoff games or milestones but @Bleedred freaks me out sometimes with specifics about random games

LMAO I just noticed Carrick took this pic with my phone before he took my picture with Hayden

You should blow this picture up on a poster board and bring it to the game. Guaranteed you get on tv and that players give you goodies.

the date on the IG post is yesterday and it says opponent is Winnipeg lol

There was an interview with Boqvist where he mentions being excited for his nhl debut whither it be playing or not (he considers debut, game 1 and being on the nhl roster).
