Beaulieu - Weber
Markov - Petry
Emelin - Pateryn / Barberio

is a good blue line, and even Sergachev will maybe crack the roster. What we need is a ****in' left wing to play on our 2nd line if the organization don't wanna give a good shot to Andrighetto, which I doubt will happen.

Many guys could be tried on that second line LW besides Andrighetto.

Carr, Hudon, Lehkonen, even Shaw can play there with Plekanec and Radulov or Plekanec and Gallagher.

Fowler is one of the rare LH puck moving d-man available.

But I think Habs will be fine with Beaulieu or Markov on that first pairing with Weber.

I don't think Carr has the potential to put 50 points a season on the board, Andrighetto yes. Hudon isn't ready for such a big role and Shaw fits perfectly on the 3rd line. Lehkonen could indeed be the solution to our top6 problem but we've never seen him in the NHL so it's hard to give him a spot right now!

I don't get what you're trying to insinuate here. Emelin actually played like a number 4 last year & fully was with Jeff Petry who makes up for Emelin's lack of foot speed.

Beaulieu with Weber would be a very strong pairing. Nothing to laugh at.

Also, you must be forgetting that it's Carey Price in net. Does that name ring a bell?
I won't pretend to know all things Habs, but Beaulieu on the top pair is a risky venture. He may get there, but i don't think he's there yet.

Beaulieu will be fine playing 22-24 mins a game alongside Weber. Weber's defensive prowess will compliment Beaulieu well. Markov or Petry will slot next to Weber on the 1rst PP unit. Emelin can even play with Weber on the 1rst PK unit.

Once Markov's contract ends, that's when Sergachev comes in, completing the top 4. Emelin will only have 1 year remaining on his contract and Bergevin will be in a better position to move him to save cap space to sign Galchenyuk.

If Mtl completes a trade, it's to bolster the 2LW spot or to replace the big hole at 3C.

He's not a number 2 yet, you're definitely right.

I'd be playing him there for experience via Weber & his speed will definitely help Webs too.

If he turns into anything even remotely like Josi under Weber's guidance then it's a success & with CP back there, we can afford to take risks.

What if the deal centred around a 1st round pick? Probably 1st + young roster player or prospect. 1st + Andrighetto/Carr/Hudon/Scherbak.

I agree with most Habs fans in thinking that we give the first shot to Beaulieu, but if Fowler is available, I think you make a move. He's what the Habs need on that left side.

So Weber needs to play with a PMD...

Hmm, Mtl already has one of the better ones in the league in Markov..

It seems people are either mixing up skating dmen that like to skate the puck out of the zone with puck moving dmen.

Markov is slow and can't skate the puck out but is an elite puck mover. Last year few years he hasn't had to do it as much because he was paired with Subban who liked to hold on to the puck.

Weber isn't slow, he is an average skater so him paired with Markov could work, but I mean if you want to give Markov easier minutes I can see how you want another puck mover to play with Weber.

Thank you very much for this reality check. People think Weber is slow because he has been traded for Subban who is pretty good skater.

Actually, Weber is just an average skater, not a slow one.

I don't see a big difference between skating 20 meters on a normal pace and ice capading 20 meters quickly.

Will not need to do that. The most important thing will be 5 vs 5 and a bit of PP on second wave.

18 minutes 5 on 5 + 2 minutes PP. He should be easily able to play that amount of minutes. The question is if he can be efficient 5 on 5 vs other teams best lines.

If the internal.solution is not working, Del Zotto could be a good one-year stopgap. I am hoping the Flyers can resign him to a transition contract for the prospects, but if a deal can't get done he could be moved during the season. Del Zotto has always has offensive upside and really brought up his defense last year. Could be had for a 1st or good prospect.

Emelin and Beaulieu in the top 4? I can see why the habs want a guy

You really want a laugh? Check your own team top 4.

Now back to reality.Fowler would be of interest but there's no chance that Patches would be involved.

1st + Andrighetto/Carr/Hudon/ would be fine with me..

i don't think anyone is clued into the fact beaulieu is 23, just played his first FULL year in the NHL and is former 1st rounder. dmen take time to develop, especially under a horribly impatient coach like Therrible

I'm sure you're not the only team in the league in need of balancing your RHD/LHD pairings.

You guys should be looking at flipping a RHD for a comparable LHD, IMHO.

I'm not sure I understand. Is Anaheim starving for mid- to late-1st Rd picks or project prospects. Because I don't see any reason Fowler would be available for what you're proposing. Fowler is, at worst, a competent NHLer, that package is not going to get it done. Would you trade Beaulieu for Anaheim 1st and a B/C prospect?
