Pacioretty will retire if we trade DD.
He did not talk about a trade of DD.
Just made magic to remove him from the line-up.
LOL at no DD and having CHucky as the 1st line center.
It is most likely that Chucky will be a center next year.
But not likely that he grabs DD's spot the same year.
Without a 19 game slump, DD would be more in line with 70 points...
You appear to have had your lunch stolen by DD at some point in your teens. Which is pretty pathetic, considering most teens won't get scared by today's version of DD.
I guess magic may happen.
Galchenyuk will be a center next year.
But he will have a tough time to steal DD's spot.
To me it is a very god news.
I want to see Chucky steal DD's spot...
DD is having a great bounce back. But if you can find a way to get rid of that contract I think you jump at it. Same can be said for Bourque, Briere and in my personal opinion one of Gorges or Emelin.
Bourque wants to be traded (and he will once he starts to produce).
Briere wants to stay here.
Gorges will not be traded until Beaulieu and Tinordi are top-4 (which may never happen).
Our lineup next year will likely be without Vanek, though it would be great to be able to keep him.
Agreed.
It is posts like this that make me feel blessed that you don't make management decisions for the Habs. Galchenyuk as a #1 center and DD just banished out of town lol?
Just like magic: Galchenyuk is our top center without playing center in NHL.
Then DD goes away and we have nothing in return...
Magic
Neither Vanek or Pacioretty are legit 40 goals scorers.
Oups. I would pretend that Patches is on his way.
His progression is pretty good...
Vanek could very well never reach 40 goals again.
DD's cap hit is a bargain considering what he's done the second half of the season. With Eller an Pleks providing limited offense, I'm more worried about them than Desharnais for next season. However, I expect all three to have good offensive years next year. They're all certainly capable.
I still think when Galchenyuk's ready to play center, and if Eller gets going, Desharnais would make a useful winger and injury replacement center. But we'll cross that bridge when Galchenyuk's ready, if Eller can get his game together, and if Pleks doesn't decline over the next couple of years.
Let's see how Galchenyuk, Eller or Plek can outpace DD first.
Best choice would be to see Eller and Galchenyuk become top-2 center.
For now, we only have Galchenyuk as a top-6.
I'm sorry, but that's just stupid. Pacioretty is on pace for 37 goals with missing about 10 games... he's a 40 goal shooter, if not this year than in the very near future.
True but he should only get 35 this season.
Seriously.. since when do centers picked 3rd overall play the role of 1st line center?
He is still pretty young.
We need to wait till he gets to the next level.
It will happen: probably next year but it could take two years to get there.
He played the majority of his final half season in Sarnia as a winger, just saying, he has not had a lot of experience playing Center at a high level.
Yes but Habs management are already posturing him to be that center.
In 2015-16, he wil be there.
Vanek - Desharnais - Pacioretty
Moulson - Plekanec - Galchenyuk
Bournival - Eller - Gallagher
Prust - White - Weise
Moen
Tinordi-Subban
Markov-Emelin
Gorges-Bealieu
Murray/Pateryn
Bourque & Briere - One bought out, the other packaged with a pick in return for a lower pick.
Gionta, Bouillon not resigned.
Money saved from Briere, Gionta and Bourque should cover the raise for Subban, Eller and the signing of Markov, Vanek and Moulson.
Too much magic there...
This is pure fantasy, but if we can keep Vanek and acquire... let's say Dany Heatly for cheap.. 2 - 2.5M or something like that, we can have a decent lineup. Then, we can try to get Stewart from Buffalo. Of course, we'd also have to get rid of Bourque and sadly of Eller as well.
Pacioretty - Desharnais - Stewart
Heatly - Plekanec - Andrighetto
Vanek - Galchenyuk - Gallagher
Moen - Prust - White - Weiss - Bournival
Gorges - Subban
Markov - Emelin
Tinordi - Beaulieu
Pateryn
Too much magic there...
I don't hate DD and he is a great little player but I feel as though he is in the way of Galchenyuks development, and I bealive that the habs could get a solid return on him bassed on his contract and recent play. And with plecks, gallchenyuk and eller (minus his last 20 games) we have superior options down the middle
On the contrary, DD is not on the way.
With DD there, we are not handling AG a spot.
He needs to do better than DD to earn the spot.
As for DD, I agree with a trade when he will score 65+ points...
