Yeah I get it. In a perfect world that's probably how it should be.

But I think last year, MacKinnon having never won a major award definitely helped him in the hart voting. Doesn't mean he wasn't a worthy winner, but that definitely helped voters favor him above Kucherov.

One year later - a lot of voters may feel "hrmm, no standout this year - Kucherov got shafted last year, i'll throw a vote his way".

Honestly - I'm fine with that.
