I voted Kucherov.

Honestly - I felt Kucherov should have won both in 2018 and 2024 - so this has a lot to do with my vote here now.

Hellebuyck. I love that he started so strong and helped catapult Jets into #1 spot. Tons of "team value" stuff there. Flipside is - he did slow down towards the end.

Draisaitl. Great season, and also a worthy winner. I think the missed games hurt him. I think McDavid being a better player (overall) hurts him. And even for team value - when Oilers were struggling early in the season, McDavid stepped up big time to turn season around in that stretch, it was a 1A/1B in ~nov/dec, and I think McDavid was slightly better. So.....not a bad pick, but I think the missed games to end the year hurt him.

So I voted Kucherov.

I was originally on the Hellebuyck train, but He didn't really separate himself from the rest of the pack all that much So I'll say I'm on board with Kucherov getting it. Felt he should have gotten it last year.

I’d be ok with any of them, or MacKinnon as well. Probably would have voted Draisaitl before he missed time but now they’re so close I’d probably vote Kucherov just because he missed out last year in a year that wins 90% of the time. Probably not the best reasoning but meh

Except Draisaitl was better than McDavid almost the entire year, and McDavid wasn't a better player overall. Draisaitl hard-carried the team, look at his goal differentials (5v5 +/-). He did all of that while his linemates were guys like Podkolzin and some rotation of Skinner and Arvidsson. He led the league in goals by a good margin and it's astonishing he even got to 54 assists playing with those guys. Imagine him with Guentzel and Point.

Hellebuyck would be my pick.

Great year for him, and that's despite dominating at the Four Nations as a starter and still having enough gas to play a full season for the Jets in dominant fashion.

I don't disagree that Draisaitl was better than McDavid this season. But there was a stretch in ~Nov/Dec where they were neck and neck, and where McDavid led the effort to rise up standings. Which was the most important part of the season for Oilers imo.

But regardless - yes, Draisaitl better season, and deserving finalist. But perception wise, people still believe McDavid is better. and it's always going to hurt Draisaitl in award voting at least somewhat.

Well he is top 5, it´s only his doing Boston is not the worst team in NHL. He is best playdriving winger in the world ainec.
They were 4th worst. No real difference. They were horrible with Pastrnak who was one of the biggest losers of the year. That's your MVP? A loser?

It should be Draisaitl. Regardless of missing 10 games, he was the most impactful player in the NHL and was the biggest reason the Oilers comfortably made the playoffs. Not McDavid.

Although, I wouldn't have a problem with Kucherov winning. He was instrumental with Tampa.

I know this is not gonna be a popular post for some on here but have you ever seen Kuch back check . The guy has great offensive ability but his attitude towards a 200 foot game is lacking . I constantly see him as the last man back and he is just floating waiting for something to turn around .

Drais seems to actually give a shit about his own end and Helly is a top notch tendy .
