Sad tale, that one.
Trots seemingly brought the jinx with him over from the Islanders board when he converted to being an actual Devils fan (with Rocky Trottier avi), arriving simultaneous to the Johnny Mac coaching era. And some folks blamed him, at first jokingly, but more and more seriously as the season collapsed. (Hilarious, but true.)
And he also became something of a polarizing figure with his stern, fatherly tone (in a constant war of condescension with Jim, who I also love, for instance), ultimately getting run off the Devils board (despite his long tenure on HF).
He sure knew his hockey, but he was so much better as a disgruntled Islander fan, especially when he would jump to our defense against Ranger fans or defending the Devils on the main board.
He was a HF rock star.
(But I miss Devilsfanatic more.)

Must take a moment to pay tribute to RG.
Not only is he the constant glue that holds us together as a Mod, but he also sets the aesthetic bar high with all of his generous photoshop work.
We can thank him for several seasons of Playoff Avatars, each year one upping the last, and for custom beauties like the one you see to your left.
No offense to any of the other wonderful mods and globals, who are all stout characters unto themselves, but RG is the wind beneath my HF wings.
Respect.
