• Top 15 countries with the most active NHL players qualify. In case of a tie, the country with the most games played by their active NHL players qualifies.
• 3 groups of 5 teams. Top 8 advance.
• Single round elimination games in the quarters/semis & best of 3 tournament finals.

You could eventually move up to 16, 18 or even 20, but as of right now you'd have to include the Netherlands according to the metrics specified above, which isn't ideal considering the skill level of that national team. Once France, Kazakhstan, the UK or Italy start producing some NHL players, then we could probably expand this thing.
