You could add him as a young player to watch, sure. My players to watch list wasn't meant to be exhaustive. I could make a much longer list. But DeAngelo is a penalty prone, one dimensional player. To be fair, he may be developing into an elite offensive player, but he's well below average defensively. So unless his game changes, his consideration largely hinders on whether Team USA feels they need a PP specialist or more offense from the back end and whether they think they can shelter him (i.e. pair with Slavin) if they expect him to play a regular shift.
For Canada it will be interesting to see if some of the older players make the team... Weber, Price, Burns, Toews, Giroux, Marchand, Bergeron, etc

Hughes and Miller at center, and no Larkin?
He's our clear third best center right now. It could obviously change in the next year and a half, but it seems unlikely that he won't be a top 4 center for us by the 2022 Olympics. I'm more hoping one guy emerges, which can make him the 4th line center. I don't think we have anywhere near the luxury of centers for him to not be in the lineup come the 2022 Olympics.

DeAngelo actually isn't that bad defensively. He's improved a lot defensively. I know it'll take non-Ranger fans a lot of time to catch up on this, but this is a big reason why he's doing as well offensively as he is. He now isn't such a liability defensively that will get himself benched, scratched or sent to the minors for his play in the defensive end. His improved defensive play gives him a much longer leash offensively. I'm not suggesting he's even average defensively or he should be on the team, but he's really not that far below average defensively. Nowhere near bad enough that if the offensive side of his game justified it that he couldn't take a regular shift and would have to be sheltered.

With Hughes I'm basically projecting he breaks out between now and 2022. I'm not guaranteeing it happens, I'm just playing the percentages.
With Miller, he can play all three forward positions, but as you noted the USA has weak center depth. Miller is 59.2% in the faceoff circle this year (718 faceoffs). I kinda like him more in a 4C role than Larkin due to his grittier play style and versatility, though if I were starting an NHL franchise I'd rather have Larkin.

This USA team is shaping up to be their best in awhile. They have the best defense. And possibly the best goaltending.
It'll be interesting to see what Canada's defense looks like, how much of the old guard can still go in 2022. Canada still has the best offense, but not the best defense like 2014.

Good question! First he had great chemistry with Landeskog and Nylander last WC. A bit heavier than William Karlsson he and Landeskog provided some physicality which Nylander benefitted from (room). More comfortable assisting than scoring he`s also good defensively. He also belong to this crew since junior and JWC tournaments where he always was a top player. Here he has cred.
They could get Spencer Foo, Tyler Wong, Victor Bartley and Brandon Yip as imports as they are with Kunlun Red Star right now.
Some of their top domestic players appear to be Rudi Ying, Zehao Sun, Zesen Zhang and Mingxi Yang. They have all had some VHL experience.
2001-born Jing Wang appeares to be one of their promising youngsters with five goals and eight assists for 13 points in 33 games for ORG Junior Beijing in the MHL.

Going to be a truly awful team. Worse than the other Asian hosts we have had by quite some distance.
Not sure why you are splitting up the Bergeron-Crosby-Marchand line. Stamkos will be apart of the top 12.

Silfverberg is incredibly underrated among Swedish fans. He's been the Ducks best forward the last couple of seasons. One of the best defensive wingers in the game, capable of 50 points and is money in the shootout and in the clutch. Yet I see a lot of teams in this thread where he's not there.
I personally think Slovakia should be building towards 2026. They have some prospects on the way who hopefully will have progressed nicely by then. In the meanwhile, I'd focus on giving the 96-99 born players valuable experience.
