Anybody know who the front runner for Coaches are for some countries?

I may have missed the news on that in some tweet or article

that can tell you a lot on who a few bubble players could be

Here's USA full coaching staff
Ryan Miller goalie coach, getting back into the swing of things very quickly on the coaching side.

hughes numbers without tanev were better last year

and Tanev was not the best WAR on Vancouver for defenseman

you actually have the audacity to say anything other than:
Hughes and Tanev = one of the best pairs in the league.
Hughes without Tanev = train wreck defensively?

Hanifin Tanev one of the best pairs in the league (arguably best 5 on 5 last year)
Giordano Tanev was insane too.

the guy is making the team. He’s arguably the best defensive D in the league. Crosby, McDavid, Mackinnon etc, score the goals. You bring elite defensive defenceman. Canada has done it every time and I don’t see them changing their strategy until they lose a best on best

when did I say that? go ahead I'll wait
The reason WOWY is established is you are comparing with and without in the same structure within a team.
And Numbers show Tanev did not carry hughes, that's a fact.

and stop saying "Best pairs in the league" when the NHL essentially had 4 separate leagues last year. You can't say they were the one of the best pairings in the league when the league was so isolated and didnt compete against each other
every statistical modeling activity stated this at the start of the year, compare within a division.

you can say one of the best pairings in the north division.
and Calgary still didnt make the playoffs with this supposed best pairing in the north division according to you.

What's your guess at your country's 2022 Olympic roster?

Canada:

Huberdeau-McDavid-Mackinnon
Marchand-Crosby-Stamkos
Point-Schiefele-Marner
Couturier-Barzal-Bergeron
Lafreniere

Rielly-Pietrangelo
Chabot-Doughty
Theodore-Makar
Parayko/Ekblad

Price
Hart
Binnington
Good thing your not a gm:laugh::laugh::laugh:

Kakko - Barkov - Rantanen (Barkov and Laine are great friends but I don't see them playing that well together and Laine is defensive liability on the left side)
Teräväinen - Aho - Laine
Haula - Hintz - Kapanen (The Fast Line)
Lehkonen - Granlund - Puljujärvi (High pace forecheck and hustle by the wingers. Kotkaniemi can replace Granlund if he takes steps forward this season)
Kotkaniemi
Armia

Heiskanen - Hakanpää (Heiskanen's better side is left, no?)
Lindell - Ristolainen (Lindell covering Risto)
Nutivaara - Jokiharju
Mikkola
Välimäki

Korpisalo
Saros
Raanta

Sucks that Rask is probably still injured or taking precautions.

My Updated Canada 23 man roster.

Forwards:
Marchand-Crosby (C)-Bergeron(A)
Huberdeau-McDavid-Mackinnon
Point-Tavares-Marner
Scheifele-O'Reilly-Stone
Couturier

Defense:
Chychrun-Makar
Theodore-Pietrangelo(A)
Chabot-Doughty(A)
Rielly

Goalies:
Price
Fleury
Binnington

Taxi Squad 5
Barzal, Stamkos, Pelech, Ekblad, Kuemper.

Canadas PP?

MCDAVID, Mackinnon, Crosby, Marner, Makar.

Holy shit!
Who is standing in front of the net? Crosby?

A PP needs some net presence. Otherwise goaltenders like Vasilevskiy or Hellebuyck will stop everything easily if they are able to see it.

This is why you may see a player like Horvat taken. To screen the goalie and take abuse in front of the net.

If Devon Toews looks like he did last season and especially in the playoffs he’s making the team. He was a top 10D (arguable top 5) in the NHL last year and just so happens to be the every day partner of the best Canadian born defenseman out there right now. He’s a PK wizard too. I could totally see Toews regressing back a bit but if not how do you overlook him? They took freaking Jake Muzzin one year because of chemistry with Doughty.

Chychrun should also be a lock.

I would be shocked if Morgan Reilly makes this team despite many projections with him on it. He simply isn’t as good a hockey player as guys like Theodore, Chychrun, Toews, Chabot or Pelech and that’s no disrespect to MR.

I might be a homer, but I keep seeing Reilly in the 6/7th spot. Don’t overlook Girard or Toews.

Huberdeau - McDavid - Marner
Marchand - Crosby - Bergeron
Stamkos - Mackinnon - Stone
Point - O'Reilly - Scheifele
Couturier/Barzal extra forwards

Toews - Makar
Theodore - Pietrangelo
Chychrun - Ekblad
Rielly - Doughty

Fleury
Price
Kuemper

Holy shit!

Canada of course wins this comparison but Finland's Barkov, Rantanen, Laine, Aho, Heiskanen ain't too bad either. They will be probably split into two units though.

Chris Tanev is making the team 100%. Canada loves to bring elite defensive players and he’s as good as you get on the PK and in his own zone.

Hanifin makes USA too.

I don’t think people understand how good either of these players are.

Pelech is going to be the defensive specialist that makes it imo. Canada has plenty of good two-way defenceman.

Stone, best in the league at it. After watching Horvat 8 times this year he wouldn’t make Team Canada B

Interesting to see how it works when you have 12 1st line forwards in the roster as they are used to play 17-22min/game and most of them are now having much less ice time.

I think Team Finland has always built that way the players often play around the same role also in their NHL teams. One reason is also we are not able to have twelve 1st line forwards. :D

Of course Team Canada has a great team and full of great players. Just if I think some weaknesses.

Quinn Hughes was a train wreck last year without Tanev.

Tanev is arguably the best defensive defenceman in the league.

Tanev was incredible all season last year, hence the WAR rating he received. And every advanced stat completely proves that.

All of those statements are blatantly obvious. I don’t know what else you are really arguing.
He makes the team. Prepare to be outraged when it happens

I said his season with Vancouver
learn to keep up

then explain all of vancouver being the worst defensive team in the league
so you ignore "above replacement" numbers some season and take into some for others.

its called coaching, heard of it?

Newsflash pal, Tanev didnt have the best above replacement numbers among defenseman on his own team.

let me guess
Gaudreau and Tkachuk should be on the 1st or 2nd lines for the States and Lindholm should be on the top line for Sweden.

Dont see how too much skill and 1st line players is a weakness. The forward group is littered with offensively and defensively capable players. The D is going to be a new look but should be fine. Its easy to know your role on a team and leave your ego at the door when playing for your country
