Something I've been wondering about for quite awhile is what would a French Canadian team look like? Could they compete for a medal?

Born in Quebec only? What about east coast players who played in the Q? That would include Crosby and MacKinnon.

What about Northern Ontario guys who come from French speaking communities? Hearst = Claude Giroux.

What are your parameters?

Huberdeau-Bergeron-Gourde
Perron-Drouin-Mantha
Duclair-Marchessault-Danault
Lafrenière-Dubois-Beauvillier
Blais Joseph

Chabot-Girard
Vlasic-Letang
Savard-Demers
Joseph

Fleury
Montembault
Bernier

coach: Michel Bergeron

Would be somewhere between Finland and the Czech Republic in my opinion, would be better in a few years as we have had some strong drafts recently and coming up. Have not included Couturier, Toews, Giroux, Pageau, or Myers since they are born outside Québec.

Any Canadian that speaks French as a first/native language, so guys like Giroux and Toews would be included and players that don't would be excluded.

I should have specified, I meant French speaking Canadians not just players born in Quebec. That's a pretty good lineup, especially down the middle with Bergeron, Toews, Giroux and Couturier.

Finland 2022, own update:

Patrik Laine - Aleksander Barkov - Mikko Rantanen
T. Teräväinen - Sebastian Aho - Kaapo Kakko/Jesse Puljujärvi
Mikael Granlund - Roope Hintz - Joonas Donskoi
Artturi Lehkonen - Jesperi Kotkaniemi - Joel Armia
----------------------------------------
(Erik Haula, Anton Lundell, Kakko/Pulju)

Lots of right wings, short of LW.
Teräväinen has to move back to his old side LW.

LD Miro Heiskanen - RD Rasmus Ristolainen
LD Esa Lindell - RD Sami Vatanen
LD Mikko Lehtonen - RD Jani Hakanpää
---------------------------
7th LD - Juuso Välimäki
8th RD - Henri Jokiharju

If Heiskanen plays right side, then Vatanen scratched and Välimäki in.

Tuukka Rask
Joonas Korpisalo

Custance put out his USA projection a couple days ago and it was one of the better ones I’ve seen.

Gaudreau Matthews Wheeler
Miller Eichel Kane
Connor Larkin Boeser
Tkachuk Hughes Tkachuk

Hughes Jones
Slavin Carlson
Suter McAvoy

Pretty well-balanced lines and combos, and I really like the idea of Hughes being flanked by both Tkachuks- but couple changes I would make:

1. Quinn Hughes with Petry. Jones might be the better overall player than Petry, but I would want Hughes with one of the most responsible, defensively sound RDs the US has. Think that would be a great pair.

2. I would entertain the idea of Adam Fox over Carlson. With Hughes you already have one of the best PP QBs in the league, and multiple other guys who can run it. Carlson is still a good player, but his play in his own zone took a nose dive last year. I’m worried it’s not going to be any better in another year.

I didn't realize how stacked the US blueline is... It's probably the best in the world right now.

It would be hard to break up the Werenski-Jones pairing, chemistry is huge in a short tournament.

Don’t think Canada should take binnington or hart over keumper. He’s got better numbers over a longer period than either of those two, on a weaker team.

Denmark's team is better than I thought. Too bad that the defence sucks. Just a couple of NHL level players there and this lineup could be so much more threatening.

L2 is a shutdown line, L3 pure offense, L4 checking. Elias Lindholm takes the faceoffs on L1.

I wouldn't say that their defense sucks. Sure, it pales in comparison to the offense but they are still alright SHL (and KHL in Philip Larsen's case) defensemen. The problem however is that while the ideal team is quite decent, they can't really afford any injuries without it significantly affecting the roster quality.

Disguting team. The lowest since 1993. Fortunately things should get better year after year with the new generation.

Cehlarik instead of Hascak, please. Hascak has always been an absolute joke in the national team. And who is GK A.Raska ?

Maybe he meant Adam Huska from Hartford Wolf Pack? He is definitely going to be on that team. Also Hudacek is done. I prefer Patrik Rybar or Matej Tomek insted.
