Do you think Pajuniemi could make the team?

Here are the camp invites so far:

Only guys I see as contenders for final team would be Will in net, Blumel on wing, Kral and Sustr on D. Also possible none of them make the team.

Any guesses for Russia? I honestly don't know this year. Schipachyov seems to be the only lock.

Indeed, very difficult to predict anything this year. Assuming no NHL participation maybe something like this. It is a bit unbalanced though.

Kuzmenko - Shipyachov - Galimov
Tkachev - Zernov - Tolchinsky
Marchenko - Morozov - Podkolzin
Mamin - Shalunov - Okulov
Korshkov/Prokhorkin

D: Ozhiganov, Yokovlev, Yudin, Rafikov, Marchenko, Kadeykin, Sergeyev, Lyamkin

GK: Samonov, Tarasov, Askarov

Lauris Darzins
Martins Karsums
Miks Indrasis

Kristofers Bindulis
Eduards Hugo Jansons
Uvis Balinskis
Kristaps Zile

Goalies:

Janis Kalnins
Kristers Gudlevskis
Ivars Punnenovs

Somebody who knows latvian hockey better, can correct me but I think these are the best european based-players right now.

Goalkeepers:

Kalnins, Punnenovs, Gudlevskis.

Couls add to depth Voris.

D - Guys:

Balinskis
Cibulskis
Freibergs
Galvins
Kulda
Bindulis
Sotnieks
Zile

You could add to depth Bartulis, Mamcins and Siksna.

Centers:

Abols
Dzerins
Svanenbergs
Krastenbergs
Bicevskis

Add to depth Batna, Smirnovs, Golovkovs and Pavlovs

Wingers:

Kenins
Daugavins
Darzins
Ro. Bukarts
Ri. Bukarts
Indrasis
Dzierkals
Karsums

Could Add to depth Meija, Vigners, Jevpalovs and Andersons.

That would be like depth chart for Latvian NT.

Janis Svanenbergs? Is he really that good?
Young player big body, Hartley loves those type of guys on the roster, especially down the middle.

Imo could bloosom if given chance on NT as Indrasis was back in 2012 WC. They both the same height, the same weight, Indrasis as a 22 year old then played only 1 game iirc for Riga Dinamo (mostly played in juniors or Dinamo farm team), but went bonkers in the WC under Ted Nolan. Svanenbergs two years younger had 8 points in 30+ games for Dinamo, if there is no North American players in the WC he has to get a chance imo.

Maybe some AHL players?
FTR.. I don't think we'll see any NHL players.. probably wishful thinking.

AHL goes till Mid May from what I can tell.

I'd gladly take Kaut, D. Kase, Jan Jenik, Jakub Lauko, Zohorna and Lukas Dostal/Daniel Vladar from the AHL though!

Ironically, we just lost a promising player to the AHL. Filip Kral just got to called to the AHL and won't be reporting to the training camp. Shame, he was one I thought might make the team.

Not really. The guys just aren't tried yet and I don't think they have any chance to play at the World Cup. Except for Zohorna.
And I believe that some NHL players will play there.

Added a few KHL players... Masin, Jordan, Radil, Zohorna and Hanzl.

Hoping Masin makes it. I'm a big fan of his. Still holding out hope for Blumel (Oiler's fan) but the forwards are not exactly jumping out at me right now. Radil should be a lock.

Is Petr Holik not a option, he had a good season.
He did. Czechs also tend to over value extraliga players and under value KHL and NHL ones so I'm surprised he didn't get an invite. I'm still mad about no Kral.. he took a nice step forward this season. Bigger jump than I expected so soon. Hope he does well in AHL and gets a look next season for the Leafs.

Ojamaki have not had a good season.

Tommi Kivistö from Jokerit could be better option than Eronen. Kemiläinen is the best defenseman in Liiga but hasn't played outside Finland so it's somewhat a question mark how well he'd adapt to international play. Anttila is cult player and could make the cut but he is turning 36 in May and would play limited minutes even if he'd make the team.

But coach Jalonen likes him and he´s been part of EHT-teams this season. And if there´s going to be a lot of declines, he will surely be part of the team.

Yeah you are right. But personally i dont like his playingstyle, Finland should choose someone more physical than him. Antilla is getting old too as is Philstrom. Its Soumi tradition to have a physcial 4th line.

Therefore i think someone like Jarno Kärki is intresting, he plays for the same team as Ojamäki does, he is a pitbull. Juhani Tyrväinen must be a lock. Joel Mustonen is a nice one, but is injured.

Maybe Iiro Pakarinen/Markus Hännikäinen/Saku Mäenalanen. Dont know too much about Liiga guys, is Hannes Björninen physical?

checking-line:

Jarno Kärki/Markus Hännikäinen/Saku Mäenalanen - Juhani Tyvräinen - Iiro Pakarinen
