I thought Kucherov would be a top scorer.

And I thought tb bringing mcdonagh back meant they were gonna trade Sergachev.

On December 8th 2015 I posted that the Sens should try and grab Phaneuf from the Leafs.

This is the exact post:

I know it wont happen but I'd be thrilled with Phaneuf. Of course, Toronto would have to take a contract in return but I'd pay the price it would take to get him out.

Jared Cowen/Patrick Wiercioch + Curtis Lazar + 2nd round pick + Colin Greening (I know it's a lot of pieces but Ottawa needs to shed salary)

vs

Dion Phaneuf + Frank Corrado (for RD depth since we're thin but not necessary)

Then our defense looks like this:

Methot-Karlsson
Phaneuf-Ceci
Boro- Wideman/Corrado
Wiercioch/Cowen

Phaneuf would help Ceci tremendously and he's a tough guy good defensively and would let Ceci develop his game better. Phaneuf Salary is high but it's going down for the remainder of his contract also and when you factor Cowen/Wiercioch and Greening out it's a pretty good deal IMO. Wouldn't get as much pressure in Ottawa and that would also give time for Chabot to come up slowly and only when he's ready and not before. Phaneuf can contribute offensively too. I really like the idea.. not sure what Leafs fan think and not sure if they'd really want to trade him either

2 months later, On February 9th 2016 Phaneuf was acquired by Ottawa.

I had proposed Cowen, Greening, Lazar and a 2nd.

Cowen, Greening and the 2nd were part of the trade.

Well right now, this one's doing pretty well from May 1 2022 Lane Hutson thread:
Very impressive in the games I've seen. 5'8" or not, if teams pass on him in the first round they're going to regret it. Amazing skater, super skilled. Though I just saw a couple of games, was USA's best player in what I saw.

But such an amazing skater and play driver. And Spurgeon is a #1 defenseman of the same height in NHL, it's possible after a couple solid summers at the gym - it requires great skating and hockey IQ but Hutson should have them.

I'd say that the team that dares to pick him first in spite of his size will be very pleased with the result. Much rather spend a pick on a guy like him who could potentially become a 80, 90 point defenseman in NHL than a big and strong but boring and safe pick who is a third pairing D on a good day.

I wanted to trade up to draft Hutson in the 2022 draft - thought he should've been drafted as a late 1st, but once he slipped into the 40s I was really hoping we'd trade up for him, to which some fans said "we already have Hughes". You know what would be nice? To have Hughes, and another kid who looks to be in a very similar mold of player as Quinn.

I begged New Jersey to take Silyaev at #10 when he was widely seen as a top 3-5 pick. Not really a prediction but nice that he fell to them.

Not a prediction but I once started a thread asking what would happen if a NHL team plane would crash and kill all the players. Of course most posts were ridiculing the thread.

Fast forward a few years and the Lokomotiv incident happened. It was a good question dammit!

Idk about best, but I hated the Ruff hiring this offseason for Buffalo. I also said Mitts is not a good the year he was traded.
