Matthews is both my fav and least fav depending on the timing. When he’s on he’s one of the best in the world. When he’s invisible in the playoffs or getting punched in the head and not defending himself he bothers me
Also Nylander is just talented and in my top 3

McCabe. He gives it all every night, the team has a couple better dmen but McCabe is just the kind of dmen that are indispensable
Marner another guy who gives whatever he's got every night, he can carry the offense and is the Leafs best defensive forward most times
JT goes to the dirty areas, owns the boards, great hands, reliable, dependable, and quiet leadership
Disliked players I don't have any that are permanent members of any list but just players that bug me from time to time mostly for questionable compete levels occasionally
Willy on some shifts he looks like the best player in the game, a shift later he serves up a pizza and then watches the result like he did it for fun.
Matthews what a shot just a deadly release, steals More pucks than a London pickpocket. There is just something with/about him I don't like, he doesn't seem like a team guy, doesn't look to set up teammates enough. Too many unexplained absences. Like Marner has never NEVER produced in the playoffs, but always ALWAYS gets a pass from the media.

Really surprised at the Matthews love. A great talent but has been a ghost for the most part come playoff time. Also chasing 70 goals by playing every meaningless reg season game only to miss half of the first rd due to a sickness screams selfishness, which should be a shock to no one. Add in the fact he’s been underwelming this year…

Rielly, Knies, and McMann are my three favourites because they all play the "right" way.
As in they're all good teammates who will stand up for themselves and each other. They bring the proper combination of grit and skill that makes me think they would be appreciated by any member of the greatest fan base in the world. Once again proving attitude is more important than ability when it comes to being worshiped like a god.
Which is why Marner is, by far, the player on the team I dislike the most.
The last player I disliked as much as him was Michael Bunting. Not surprisingly it's for the same reason: their selfish immaturity. The sense of privilige Marner brings to the rink every night makes him a locker room cancer.
Robertson is the same but in a much lesser role.
The two of them represent the epitome of everything wrong with this organization. A pair of "me first" players with entitlement issues. Unwilling to do any of the dirty work required to endear themselves to the hardworking blue collar fans who support this franchise.
Replacing both those two with more Rielly's, Knies, and McMann's might not make the team any better but it would be better liked.

He just seems to be some people's least favourite Leaf. A lot seem to like other player's more.
I'm more surprised people hate Kampf so much. Can't remember the guy ever taking a shift off.

Interesting seeing that many have a negative view on Marner. Guess he’s mostly popular with Ontario-based kids that likes his flashy play and don’t really care/knows about salary caps, negotiations and his off-ice antics?

Tanev - How could anyone not like this guy? Does it all.
Willy - Love the swag. Love that he told the boys off on the bench. Not a perfect player but brings it when it matters.
McCabe - Gritty and tough. Stands up for his team.

Least
Rielly - Worst defender of 2 on 1’s - I’ve seen. No shot. Don’t like contract at all. Our worst contract imo. Love the guy, hate the player.
Mitch - The little spoiled rich kid vibe. The bizarre warmups. The terrible interviews. The greediness. Playoffs disappearing. Won’t shoot. I think I like the player more than the guy here.
Robertson - Ah the little engine that couldn’t. Demanding trades, dude no one wants you. Love his effort but that were it ends. Loses 90% of battles, no vision and spends more time off his skates then any Leaf in history. He should be called Frank or Zamboni for how often he cleans the ice.

My guess you have to be in the room, not even best buddies with someone from the room to know. Best buddies are still going to get a personal slanted view of the situation.
I don't think you'll get a reasoned and logical explanation for the "favorite" or "like" factor in here.
Most people wouldn't know the players if they backed over them with their cars.
More projection, and taken to extremes any reported or suggested scenario.
Completely different than asking who are the better players, in which case the discussion might include analysis of some fact.
No different than at work where someone might be a complete jerk to some and a great teammate to others. You can have very effective co-workers who are a-holes. You just lock them in a room and slide a food tray to them under the door.
McMann type of player is easy to like.
