The idea that coaches can “challenge” an offside call if the player appears to be a millimeter off is totally illogical garbage. Imagine how many goals would’ve been called back throughout the history of the league if this rule always existed?
It makes no sense. When the play is as close to the line as it was with Hall there, whether or not the refs catch a milli-milli-millimeter offsides has no baring on the play whatsoever.
Was there ever time when goals occurred and players or coaches or fans were like “hey that’s not fair they may have been offside by 3/16 of an inch we should delay the game by several minutes to take away beautiful game-changing goals because someone’s pinky toe was ahead of the puck.”
