For you youngsters, nobody actually called it a mullet in the 80s. The word didn't even exist yet. (According to Wikipedia, the origin is the 1994 Beastie Boys' song "Mullet Head.") We always called it the South Philly hockey haircut -- or sometimes the Jersey cut.
