Jets would also be in on it if he was available. My guess is the starting point will be a 1st, a 2nd, a good prospect and even then it might not be enough.

Seattle has little incentive to sell him this year unless someone really overpays. Them giving up an asset for Tatar also indicates they are not interested in selling off.

I would love him on the Rangers but don't think we have the space. You get Gourde for 2 playoff runs so the price wouldn't be cheap. He's kinda pricey for a third liner but I have always loved his game.

There is no chance the Kraken gets a 1st for Gourde unless Seattle eats 50% of his caphit. He's a not a 2nd line C at this point in his career. He's a good but overpaid 3C.

Gourde easily gets a 1st plus.

You get him as a super-rental - two playoff runs with no long-term commitment past his age-out date.

The idea that he is a third liner is comical. He's second (by 8 whole seconds behind Beniers) among Seattle forwards in ES ice time this year. He's tied for 81st among ALL forwards in the NHL in even-strength scoring last year + this year combined. That's top six production by any measure. He just doesn't get massive amounts of PP time.

Add in his penalty killing ability and big-time Stanley Cup resume as well as his all-around versatility and, again, you get him for two playoff runs - and there is no doubt, he's a high-end TDL target for any team serious about winning. He just had 13 points in 14 playoff games for the Kraken last year in the playoffs so it isn't even all about "well he just glommed on to the Tampa stars". Dude is a big game player.

I've wanted him on the Avs for years.

I haven't watched or followed him this season so unless he's fallen off big time this year I expect him to get a 1st+. His salary is pretty manageable as well. Plus he is not a pure rental so you get another season out of him.

Still pissed the Lightning let him go instead of Cirelli.

if people are talking about a first for Monohan. Gourde gets one. I doubt Seattle wants to sell thoufh
Monahan gets a 3rd / 2nd at best if healthy and due to his 2M caphit.

If Gourde has 50% retention, then for sure he gets a 1st.

Gourde has two runs in him, gourde is arguably a middle 6 you say 3c some think 2c. I’d be very surprised if he’s moved this year. If he is it’s more than just a first. Next year depending on his wish to re-sign in Seattle. With seattle adding Tatar, I’d say there’s little to no chance he’s moved

At the time, Cirelli was a very promising young player. He looked like he was blossoming into a 60 point two way C. His progress just seemed to taper off though.

Hindsight is 20/20

Nah, I wanted to keep Gourde at the time. He was a much bigger factor in the two championships than Cirelli.

I am a big Gourde fan but people overvalue him. He earned his contract after a 25g 64 point season, and he hasn't touched 50 points ever since.

Cirelli rightfully gets shit for not living up to his contract, but it's amusing to me that Gourde gets off the hook because he's .

To me the real one that got away was Miller.

Gourde’s contract was a mistake as well: JBB should have locked him up the offseason prior, then panicked when Gourde got off to a hot start playing with Point and overpaid him. But while both players are overpaid Gourde has at least been far more consistent and reliable offensively.

As for Miller, nobody knew he was going to break out the way he did, so I really can’t fault JBB for that.

Maybe not a 100 point star but he certainly showed the capability of being a top line winger and a perfect compliment for Kucherov/Stamkos at the time. That is, before Cooper inexplicably relegated him to a checking line role which he wasn't great at.

Probably doesn't work out to three consecutive cup runs that way so JBB looks like a genius, but I would have dealt Gourde instead for sure. Miller reminded me so much of Modin in the offensive zone, I really hated that trade.

I mean he's had 48 points the last 2 seasons, and he scored 13 points in 14 games in last years playoffs. Those are pretty solid numbers.

48 points the last 2 years rank him approximately 50th amongst c each season, and he doesn't get a ton of pp time.

That would only happen if a roster player was coming back (i.e. Monahan) or more likely, they already had a deal in place to bring in a more sure-fire replacement and the team they were dealing with refused to take him, which is also unlikely IMO.
I was thinking more of that 2nd scenario. Rather than force a team to take RJ, let Montreal take him off your hands and trade for Gourde separately.
