I don't really see why NJD are making this move. They've got Jack, Nico, Palat, Mercer, hopefully Timo & Haula, maybe Holtz coming in. I'm not sure there's a ton of room for Yamamoto, or more importantly a need for him.

NJ needs right handed shots, would fit well on line 3 replacing Tatar/Sharangovich/Boqvist. Only 1 year on contract. RFA at seasons end. Low risk, potential for reward.

Playoff clubs aren't going to want Yamamoto, especially not New Jersey.

He'll probably be passed to a rebuilding squad either in the summer or at the deadline so the Oilers can upgrade.

But why?

Lol - never mind you explained your rationale so kudos.

Still think it’s a terrible fit come playoff time. The Devils should be making playoff moves.

Devils have holtz - a right handed shot who will be in the top 9 next season

Yamamoto I think would be a good fit on a team that would properly slot him on the third line.

unfortunately, Edmonton is also seriously lacking in right shots.

Maybe something like a third and negotiation rights to Wood? Straight across for Sharangovich?

hahahaha

Yams couldn't produce with the 2 best centers in the league. So yeah, he slots on the 3rd line because he can't produce. And no, you aren't getting any value in return. Liklely get a similar player in return.

Not sure why NJ would want him.

Sharangovich had 30 points, pretty similar production, for one, and for another, I’m not the one shopping him, OP is asking.
