Both Geekie and Lorentz are really showing me that they can both be bottom-sixers when McGinn gets his raise from someone like, say, Edmonton. I hope that the Canes and Marty/Paquette agree on a couple of short bridge pacts to keep the bottom-6 elite and give them an opportunity for a big pay day after COVID.
Geekie is playing like he want return a Kraken

We need to do a better job of pumping Pesce here. If another fanbase had a defenseman providing his defensive value while scoring at a 40 point per 82 game pace, it would be, to quote a Tim Dog song title, goin wild in the penile. Forget top pairing. That's low-end #1 type stuff.

I don't think the player hasn't changed much, mind you. The biggest difference is that he's picking up PP points that he wasn't given the opportunity to accumulate in the past. Nuance is not important, however. His core statline didn't stop a certain fanbase from calling him a no offense defenseman a few years back.

Just imagine if they were our only two competent d-men who were forced to play the powerplay as well. Both would rightfully be Norris candidates all else considered.

And that's acknowledging our powerplay would very likely be much worse. But Pesce has a lot of offense to give, I've been saying that for years. But the double edged sword is that our front office also sees the same and more which could prompt them to move on from Dougie.

I just prefer our elite defense group as a trio and not a duo, especially considering Slavin and Pesce's bargain contracts. At his best, Dougie's free-wheeling and incredible offensive talent frees time for Slavin and Pesce to do more valuable things with their ToI. Cups are better than Norris Trophies. I know that I'm in the minority here, but I think he's a must-sign. Let Francis have Skjei in the ED and we can extend Dougie. Run both Gardiner and Bean below Slavin until the next deadline. Maybe one of Lajoie/Sellgren/Keane can become that stay-at-home complementary piece to Pesce that Skjei has been. If not, acquire another one at the deadline.
