I don't see them unveiling a new belt until he loses one of them first. Unless they're stupid enough to unify them and continue the Universal lineage instead of the WWE title lineage.

With the new HW belt, they have no intention of ever separating the two titles Roman has. Two belts or one belt, it's essentially one title now and that will never change. They are already unified.

I was talking about the lineage of it though. It's still two separate lineages. I'm hoping g they drop the Universal one as soon as Reigns loses.

As long as Heyman and Roman are together there’s never not a reason to keep having him carry 2 belts.

I've always viewed Roman's current title as a merger of the historic WWE title and created Universal title, the same way they merged the historic WWE title with the created HW title they did for Triple H back in 2002. Then Orton merged them a decade ago.

They should drop the "Universal" name from the title, and just go back to WWE Championship. If they do it the other way around and try to hang onto the "Universal" name that is stupid.

In a roundabout way they are right back where they were the Fall of 2002 with two champions.

Yes I agree with this. The guy that beats Roman should be the last guy they call Universal champion.

But, as soon as AJ or Rollins becomes new champ, the black/red belt essentially doesn't exist anymore. He will only be the champ of one brand instead of 2.

Yeah but the act looks better with Roman wearing a belt and Heyman handing him another. It’s a visual that he was so good they had to create another ‘world title’ because no one could get them off him.

Though, what happens if AJ wins? Wasn't he drafted to Smackdown (as was Roman)?

It's the blue belt that should go away but that's only the belt that Reigns is having this historical run with. They shouldn't get rid of it until he loses.

So lean in to the new belt being an inferior consolation prize?
