I'm not sure it's going to have to come to that as I think they will have him drop to GUNTHER by Summerslam. At least one of them.

I also think there is a non-zero chance we find out after Mania Cody only won one belt thanks to some Heyman trickery

I will believe Cody is going to turn heel when I see it with my own two eyes and that is the only way I will believe it will happen.
He refused to turn in AEW, maybe he refuses here too. Who knows.

Btw, just watched the Cody/Roman segment from last night. Just pure fire from both guys.

We can say what we want about Cody, but he has been great since the beginning of that program. Some of the booking we may not like, but the guy has delivered.

Roman is Roman. His promos against Cody are just so full of truth.

what struggle is there left? the guy wrestled 25 minutes with a torn pec
Then went on the shelf for like half a year, then came in #30, wrestled for 10 mins against a guy who was in there over an hour and won.

I just don’t like the booking.

Him wrestling Seth Rollins with a torn peck has nothing to do with facing adversity in a title program against a guy who’s had the belt for almost 3 years.

Roman has come such a long way with his promos. Remember when face Big Dawg Roman was put into a blender by Cena

i think having Cody start the Rumble to go all the way (like Edge did very recently) would've been boring and was much smarter to build up Gunther -who's clearly the future of this business. fans clearly love him and want to see him get the belt. would it be smarter to keep the belt on Roman and get Drew (who got screwed by Solo) to team up Sami/Ko/Cody? probably

He didn’t need to start but even if he came in at #20 or something.

I admit, I thought fans would be turning on him by now, but he’s still going strong. Again, I have no issue with him winning the belt, just not at Mania. I think there’s more value in the chase into the summer.

I guess it’s just my logic. Look at the hell guys like KO, Sami, and basically everyone who has been put in front of Roman & The Bloodline has faced over the past few years.

Cody just coming in squeaky clean and winning the belt right away doesn’t sit well with me. Is he the guy? Yeah, I think he is. I just don’t think it should come this easy for him.

I still don't understand why Cody entered at number 30.

I would have said to protect his pec in its first match back, but he then went on to basically work a full match with GUNTHER in the final 2.

I think that might be why they were ok with it, because the final 2 was going to go on for so long.

It kinda blows my f***ing mind that he may be the guy they end this all with. I just can’t even come close to understanding it. I guess I just gotta tip my cap to him. He’s faking it till he making it. He keeps putting it into the universe and it’s possibly happening.

Yeah my initial thought was maybe he wasn't fully recovered. But then him and Gunther went so long and with high intensity. Pretty sure it was the longest final two in Rumble history.

Winning at 30 is a heel move. I don't know why they do it for babyfaces like they've done with Cena and Taker. I get that Cena was a surprise entrant in 2008, but it's wouldn't be any less of a surprise if he entered at 20.

He was only cleared to compete on the day of the Rumble.
Really? That's a bold move considering they were advertising him being in the Rumble for weeks. I find that hard to believe. I'm sure he was cleared before hand, but got fully cleared the day of as a second opinion.

Yeah, fully cleared.

I’m guessing he was cleared before, and then had a second opinion the day of. No way WWE risks him not being in the rumble after weeks of advertising.

Didn't they advertise a match for a PPV in the fall, up to like the day before that they knew all along wasn't going to take place? I wouldn't put anything past them to try to get more eyes on it, worst case scenario they could have just had someone "take him out" in the back to explain him missing the rumble

They knew and had him pencilled into Wrestlemania plans forever. There’s no way he was JUST cleared the day of.

Like I said, most likely cleared weeks before, followed up the day of to get the full go-ahead.

In the end what difference does it make? Day of, day before, a week before, whatever, we all knew the plan was Cody at WM as long as he was healthy. Some people might have fooled themselves into thinking there was a chance that they would change lanes and go with Sami, but that was never happening unless Cody couldn't go
