And yet it is required in every Classroom. And we wonder why children are falling behind. They say that 60 Percent of adult`s are illiterate now. It is because they don`t want to read horrible cr*p like Wuthering Height`s. What the hell does Wuthering Height`s even mean anyway. It is rediculous that this is what pass`s for education these day`s. They just throw these kid`s into a classroom and force them to read horrible book`s like Wuthering Height`s. It is an absolute Joke. No one can even explain why they are doing this. It make`s me literally so ****ing angry!

Not one of the Brontes' better efforts imo - let down by the fact it should be half the length it is. Jane Eyre is my favourite of the ones I've read.

I am sure the Brontes are all interchangeable so I don't know which is actually which.

I have an English degree and it only gets worse in university. There are merits to studying classics but deciphering Shakespeare isn't going to illuminate you in modern times or help you with English.

The entire study of the language has far too much emphasis on prose, poetry, and plays which are interesting but don't help you with language skills. Poetry and plays in particular have not been culturally significant in nearly a hundred years.

I guess it's easier to plan classes using curriculums designed by someone else than add modern language and books.

Many disciplines suffer from this though; preparing people to be successful seventy years ago.
